I would probably go with clears to try them out. You can always resell it if you don't like it. Leopolds are excellent quality and have good resale value.

My first mechanical was a Choc Mini with Browns. I love it. I typed on a leo with blues for about 2 weeks before getting it, and it is a more solid feeling board overall....but the typing experience on mine is fantastic. It is not extremely soft, and does have a noticeable feedback. The clears would probably feel good during gaming. You have to realize that almost any mechanical board, even MX blacks and clears, are going to require less force than most are used to. It will be a little weird and take some focus to even feel the MX Blues feedback at first. Even a board with reds or browns makes a good deal more noise than rubber domes to a new user that bottoms out most keys.

The main reason to go with a Choc vs a filco or leo is the layout. If you like it like I do, get it. If not and budget is no problem get a filco. Leo's look better btw. try geekhack classifieds

Is getting a 2KRO (can only press 2 keys at the same time) keyboard sub-optimal for playing Starcraft?
Can't think of a situation off the top of my head where you need to press three keys at once.
Disc Golf is Awesome! Thought I'd throw that out there =)

I think there are a few commands where you use three keys. Isn't enabling fps crtrl + shift + F?

Modifier keys (shift, ctrl, alt) don't affect rollover.
Ctrl+shift+F counts as one input.

The 2kro stuff is also not for all keys. It is only the worst case. I do not know how the different manufacturers setup the keys that can be pressed together, but with at least some 2kro keyboards when playing an FPS, you can press two of the W-A-S-D keys, and a third key for weapon switching or something, and Space Bar for jumping as a fourth key, and it works.

is there much difference between reds and blacks? what about between regular and tenkeyless? which is more worthwhile from an rts/fps/gaming perspective, a tenkeyless black or a regular red?

Do you use the numpad? If not then a tenkeyless is a good choice.

For gaming it allows you to have your hand on the keyboard and hand on the mouse closer together. Which some people like.

I don't have any reds, but they are lighter than blacks. Its basically personal preference, do you want heavy keys or light?

i just want what is best ergonomically lol, so i guess lighter would mean less effort and less fatigue?

is it ergomonic to have your keyboard and mouse closer, or is that just personal preference?

Possibly, lighter could mean less fatigue. But it could also mean more mistakes due to accidentally hitting keys.

I think ergonomics would come down to your desk/chair setup and body size shape. But I am no expert, so just try imagine if your computer experience would be enhanced by your hands being allowed to be closer together.

So its all personal preference, ideally try out the keyboards. Otherwise just try make educated guesses about what will be best for you.

If you are tiny yes if you are a giant no.

Seriously though, I guess you can say it's a bit more comfortable to use a tankeyless but the real question is if you use the numpad. If you are you are just going to get annoyed without it.

This. 2KRO does not apply to certain groups of keys which are likely to be pressed more than 2 at a time, and only affects keys not in these clusters. I saw a pic somewhere that outlines these groups but unfortunately couldn't find it again.

Guys,,, I'm kinda stuck on deciding what Mechanical Keyboard I should get. I have 3 options : Razer Blackwidow Stealth, Zowie Celeritas, and Filco Majestouch (all of them are brown switches)... which of these three do you think is better ?

What are the prices at where you're from, and what are you looking for specifically? Hard to pick when you list no criteria.

Tough choice, I'd say.

Out of these three the Filco is the one with the best reputation; some see it as the best keyboard out there for typing. Then again, it costs the most out of the three if I'm not mistaken.

As for the choice between Celeritas and Blackwidow, I recall the Celeritas having a better reputation, but I think it's almost a toss-up here. Flash uses a Celeritas, if that's anything to go by :-).

I'd take Filco over Zowie (depending a bit on price). If you don't need macro keys and such that the razer offers, then Filco over Razer as well.

Disclaimer. I have I Filco myself so I might be a bit biased. I think that is the general answer you'd get though.

It depends on the keyboard
Play around here to see how your keyboard does.

Zowie has a endorsement from Flash on their website.

Filco's come in pink.

Razer Blackwidow Stealth is "for gamers who favor silent strikes from the shadow and meticulous pwnage".

Simple now?
