2 days ago I finally received my Ducky DK9008G2 Cherry MX Brown ABS
it took exactly 2 weeks to arrive from taiwan

and so far I've been loving it, it's a really good quality keyboard.
I just have to get used to it a little bit still (have always been typing on rubberdome)

I got it from the taiwan site pchome
this is the one: http://global.pchome.com.tw/?mod=item&func=exhibit&IT_NO=DCAH0X-A55917232&c=A05&tm=u

it cost me about 95 euros including 20 dollar shipping and paypal currency exchange rates
although if you're in europe, be prepared to get screwed by customs, I had to pay another 18 euros in taxes and for some reason another 17 euro for customs which brought it to 130 euro total.
kinda sad since the keyboard itself is only about 80 but oh well...

it has been out of stock at tankguys for ages and shipping it to europe would cost 40 dollars anyways (110 original), and I'm not sure if you have to pay taxes then again aswell because you still ship it from outside europe...

here's a guide how to order something from the taiwanese site pchome on geekhack:
http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?12854-PChome-(Taiwan)-20-Worldwide-Shipping-Promo

it would also ofcourse help a lot if you use google chrome as your browser, since you can then translate most of the site and make it actually decentally readable

if you do order from pchome, make sure you select the right version (chinese/english)

At least u got one. I'm thinking of removing the LEDs in mine. The caps lock LED is pretty bright for me.

those sound made up im sorry but of all the people that actually use blues THAT was never the complaint(if there were any) i saw. rather the key only activating once if you do superfast doubletap why releasing the switch only very little. that was a myth in my case too though, the only problem ive ever had with blues is that people dont like the noise
This was the case for me when I first started using my RK-9000 with blues. When I play BF2, I always double tap W to sprint, and at first I always pressed too fast and it would not always register. You just have to learn how far to let the key raise before tapping again so it will register (when I used to play on rubber dome I would barely let it raise before tapping again because it would register twice. On black switches it double tapped a lot for me). I don't have that issue anymore.

I've just bought the Razer Blackwidow keyboard, standard version, no backlight. It is ridiculously expensive here ( ~ 80$ vs 120$) just for some fancy lights. This is my first mechanical keyboard, ever. My previous was G15, which went down with Coca-Cola spillage. I went for Blackwidow mostly for the sound and I LOVE IT !! It was this vs Steelseries 6GV2, but I am stupid that way, that I've wanted something more then just a keyboard for this money, so I went for macro buttons, which I've already assigned for the easier usage. One more thing was the "Windows button" which is replaced in Steelseries by the Fn button. I've learned to used it and never to click it unintentionally, I really need it and 6GV2 simply doesn't have it.
I love the feel of mechanical switches and the sound, the sound makes me feel so gosu, I just start up the Hacker Type and feel like god. :D

Just wanted to pop in and ask, for SC2 specifically, would it be better to get a Brown switch or Blue switch? I prefer the 'clickyness' of Blues (from watching reviews on Youtube) but I've heard that Blues make double tapping quite difficult. Does anyone have any experience with this? And also is the noise with Blues obnoxious?

Aside from all this I probably will drop money for the Filco Majestouch. Is there any difference between the normal Majestouch and Majestouch 2?

If it's for SC2 specifically, you would want mx browns or blacks.

To those who disagree with me about the SteelSeries 6 - That's fine. But you can't deny that the question mark key is out of place
[image loading]

(Sorry if there's another version not like this, but this is the one I bought)

Notice the \ and / keys next to each other. Absolutely silly to design a keyboard like this. qwerty keyboard layouts are standard for a reason. If you're designing a keyboard, what would posses you to change this? I'm not going to re-learn how to type on one specific keyboard because some numbskull engineer said "ITS A GAMING KEYBOARD LETS TAKE THIS TO THE MAX!"
If you want to customize keyboard layouts - then don't mass produce them and sell them in big chains as gaming keyboards, like gamers in general want fucked up key layouts.

Such a shame , the keyboard was solid and I enjoyed typing on it and it's actually the only brand that I've seen sold in stores locally. But they had to crunch the keys together and screw up the spacing, huh..

/rant

Why buy it if u didn't like the layout?

Good question, my own stupidity. I honestly just saw that it was a mechanical keyboard and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I assumed that - at a glance - it was a standard keyboard layout.

I tried to get used to it and then just decided to return it.

Short answer is blues are harder to double tap on. Read the thread for more nuance and discussion, this has been discussed several times before.

Typing on a Leopold right now. Feels pretty solid, but the switch dampeners make it feel a bit "soft" when pressing keys like the spacebar, enter key, etc. (whatever has the pads) compared to something like a Das or Filco. Overall the quality is solid and I don't think you'll regret it if you do in fact purchase a Leopold.

Yeah I own a leopold fc300r brown and they are great. I don't think u will regret at all. I also own 6gv2 and bw ultimate. I really think bw ultimate is an underrated keyboard, 6gv2 however just feel too stiff for my taste.

Is the detachable cable replaceable for the leopold? Like is it a standard cable i.e the ones that you get to connect camera to computer.

Quick question guys. Is a Filco Majestouch 1 w/ blues worth paying £60 for? It's used but all keys work and each keycap has been cleaned.

Are you a Diamond+ player with 150 + APM and Type at 85+wpm that has experience with several mechanical keyboard switches? I'm looking for your opinion.

I'm Zerg and fit the above category. I'm looking to get a keyboard that will complement my style of play.

This will be my first mech keyboard and my experience has been limited. I have done a lot of due diligence on my part by doing plenty of research online, but what it really comes down for me is SC2.

So which switch do you prefer?

Here's what I have so far add to what you think may or may not be misconceptions.

Blue switches; are great, and actually preferred by some players. the sound and response can trigger adrenaline like responses. I liked the Blackwidow response, but that is the only switch that I've tried. Not sure if it feels the same throughout every brand.

Browns: Also great for those who wear earphones anyways and can't hear the click on the blues, while still providing the tactile response that can trigger a similar response as the blues. so far i've read that the down fall of browns are that the tactile response isn't as pronouced as in the Blues.

Clears: Because not that many people have these we do not hear too much about it. The only thing I've heard is that they are what browns should have been, or some say the clears are way too stiff to be typing on. Now that I clears are availabe to me I may also consider this switch.

Reds: The lightest and more linear of the bunch has also been a topic that hasn't been widely discussed. I've also heard two sides on this one. Some say it is a god sent for SC2, and some say they are just way too light to be accurate.

Also the brands that I have to choose from:

Filco, Leopold, Noppoo Choc Mini, KBC Poker

The Filco only comes in blue/brown
and Leo is the only one with the clears.

Which would you get if you were me?

Toss up between Blues and Browns atm, skeptical about double tapping with blues.
