That said Windows can do defrags every X days automatically. W10 has it set weekly by default. | ||

Got an Oculus for Christmas from my wife and it is so far AMAZING. Thing is... for REAL games(i mean no oculus demo or games sold with oculus. Talking like... elite, Tomb raider for example.), i feel my computer is lagging a little behind (it's old now). What could i upgrade without changing too much (don't want to change MB as i would need to buy new ram and new proc). - i7 4770K (reverted to stock because too much BSOD even with less than 4.2ghz. Bad chip i guess (or i'm just bad at OC now.)) - R9 290X (yes i still have it for those who remembers and never got the heart to change it) - 16GB of Ram (can't go past 32 on the MB). - Asus Maximus Formula VI C2 (so chipset is : 1150). Budget is... Not too much if possible. Like no, i won't buy a 2080 unless i win the lotery (holy cow the prices). Basicly i want to know if i can upgrade my hardware withtout chaning everything and for something like... 200€ ? man sometimes it sucks having a new born ! diapers cost too much ! Not sure if possible because chipset/bottlneck etc... | ||

Not sure if possible because chipset/bottlneck etc... You'd have to be more specific than that to diagnose performance issues - slow load times? GPU bound low FPS, CPU bound low FPS? etc. A 4770k even at stock should be fine most of the time, a 290x will struggle if you're trying to run high graphics even on 1080p. You should make sure that stuff's running fine, at expected clock speeds without thermal throttling under load etc. Solid replacements are expensive as 200 euro buys you a sidegrade at best in both cases (Graphics card or CPU+Mobo) The kind of graphics card that you'd want to buy costs more like 500 euro on the current market as it's in Nvidia monopoly territory at the moment - much cheaper than that and you're not getting good value. | ||

Graphic cards are SO expensive nowdays... But if i was to buy one. What do you think my system can handle ? Cause i think buying something like a 1080 or a RX would be overkill with that cpu no ? | ||

Most car batteries are 12V with a 15A fuse and are rated for 120W for a bit safety overhead on the current side. Now the common charging technology QC 3.0 can charge at 18W max, so in a car charger I think it does 9V at 2A, and really no phones go higher minus off exceptions like Oneplus Dash Charge that can do 5V/5A. In theory USB PD 2.0/3.0 can do 100W over USB Type C, but at 20V. Is it possible for the voltage in your car to be stepped up to 24V, and then provide a 20V at 5A? And if so, are they out there, because I can't find it. Unless it uses 9V and 5A, but that's not part of the USB PD standard. So if the voltage is being stepped up to 15V, why don't we see anyone go all the way to 20V 5A? | ||

A standard car battery has 45 Ah, and you shouldn't drain it faster than at 1/10 its capacity if you want it to last. Drawing 100W of power at 12V requires a current of 8.3A. And that's assuming your transformer is perfect. Using that a lot would be an excellent way of ruining your car battery quickly. It's not meant for this type of rapid discharge, especially not if you drain it (which will take under half an hour of charging at that rate), which is also not good for car batteries. | ||

Higher framerates are more demanding on the CPU while higher resolutions and graphics settings are more demanding on the GPU MMO and RTS tend to be more CPU heavy as well. If you ended up buying a GPU you'd probably want one that you could stick with for a while as your next upgrade money goes towards cpu+mobo. | ||
