Example: when you launch SC2 for the first time today, and you play a ZvZ, every unit and doodad that was displayed during that game is in your RAM. Then when you play against a Terran, the first time you see a marine, the assets for that marine will be retrieved from storage and put into RAM. This way when you see more marines later, your computer retrieves their assets from RAM instead of storage. Easy demonstration. Load up the unit preloader by launching from HDD, then restart your computer. Then launch the unit preloader from SSD. There will be a difference.

My understanding is that games tend to pack things into larger chunks of data, which presumably means loading is closer to sequential reading than random (SSDs are much better at random than HDDs, but the difference is much lower with sequential). Mostly an SSD is good for general, non-gaming use. The difference between using your PC for day to day things like browsing the internet, using your filesystem, or boot up speed is basically night and day in terms of speed. I generally recommend having a large enough SSD for your OS and some commonly used programs, but everything else can go on an HDD.

If that boots, then you know it's switch/cables. If not, well, something else is faulty. Yeah I did the screwdriver method and nothing was happening, my case arrived just now and I plugged the into the case and that ended up working, everything is running now. weird lol

That's what I was originally thinking, but it doesn't explain why it would work with a different PSU. [Edit] Oh, I see now. He tested the new PSU in the existing PC, not the old PSU with the new parts. Yeah, I concur then.

What could be the cause of this problem? Does it have something to do with my motherboard? I'm out about $100 and still have the same issues ![]() My laptop is fairly old, it's an ASUS n56vz. Thanks for the help.

I should be able to use VDSL since ISP told me to get a VDSL modem for that speed. But when I select VDSL as link type in modem settings I can't connect to the internet. DSL light is solid green but internet light is red. Only when I select ADSL as link type I'm able to connect to the internet but then my band with is 4-5 mbps MAX. I already opened a support ticket for this but there may be something you guys can tell me. + Show Spoiler + ![]()

and this setting will disable itself and be unavailable if you have not streamed within the last four weeks (excluding featured streams). Turn on stream, stream for awhile, toggle stream back to offline.

Spent the best part of a day trying to figure out why sound wasn't coming out of the monitor of the new PC I just built my wife. Unistalled, reinstall drivers, swapped between hdmi and dvi plus audio jack, reinstalled Windows twice. Nothing worked. Sound was showing up in the playback devices but nothing audible could be heared. Started writing a detailed 500 word op to post on Stackexchange and TL asking for advice. My wife figured it out. Monitor didn't have speakers. Fml
