![]() Pretty intentionally vague, with no response when I tried to get a real answer. Take from it what you will. Oops, finally got an answer. Too lazy to screeny again, Josiah O'Neal @JingleHellTech 22 Aug @EVGA_JacobF oh come on, that's marketing speak. Is it an exclusivity deal in exchange for good binning, or is it just easier? Jacob Freeman @EVGA_JacobF @JingleHellTech Nope, we have great relationships with both Intel and NVIDIA, and choose to focus on using their GPU's/chipsets! I'm personally taking this to mean I was right and it's the sort of thing they can't admit, but that's speculation, and comes with a free box of tinfoil.

Either way your letting them know they are missing out on huge amounts of business. So thats always a good thing. XFX is asking me to check and if necessary replace the thermal paste on a brand new 7970GE. Meanwhile Newegg has already fully authorized an RMA complete with free shipping. Im tempted to give reapplying the thermal paste a crack (they said it wont break warranty). Either way, Im waiting until tomorrow to deal with it. ASIC rating on the XFX7970 is an abysmal %56.9 and on the GE is %65 or so, which is pretty much the average.

Bear in mind, I've been playing a lot of Mafia lately, this could be affecting my perceptions of people's communication.

Its important to understand that the 7970GE was the same price I picked up the 7970 after rebates. So a refund on the 7970 pretty much means I effectively swapped a 7970 for a 7970GE for free. If I can't repair it myself. They are both going back, GE first, and I am picking up the gigabyte model. Friend is running 4 of these at .95 volts and total power consumption is not even 700W. Im a bit jealous. I just want one for now though. A revolution in bitcoin mining is coming soon.

I guess what you can do is to remove unnecessary startup programs, and end useless background processes? As for SC2, 1.5 patch causes some performance issues. p.s. I never really trusted 3rd party programs that are supposed to optimise...

It turned out to be that the fan was going on and off every 2 seconds or so, so I don't know what to do. The card is an XFX 687A-ZHFC, the 1 gb single fan version that has a history of having several issues with cooling..... So what can I do? Call XFX and set up an RMA. That's what warranty is for.

More specificly; Will the powersupply affect the electricity bill or is it the components that make up for the electricity cost? Both, your powersupply will be most efficient at a range of loads (so if you get a 1000w psu, it might be only 60% efficient at 100w, meaning it draws like 180w from the wall to give 100w to components), the quality of the powersupply will also make a difference and in the end, some components require more power than others.
