Well, my pc was hanging for some reason, when I booted up, on the log in screen. I have managed to narrow it down to the fact that my pc only freezes when I plug my ethernet cable into the back of the pc - bit odd in my opinion.
I've fully updated my windows and I'm currently running a virus scan. After thats done I'm going to reseat the card and try some different cables but other than that can anyone else help or give me some hints on what I can do to fix it?
I'm so confused and I'm so lost without my internet connection, had to do this on my mums laptop T.T.
Thanks in advance for the help I won't be able to check this till tomorow so I hope it doesn't get bumped down quickly .

So I'm assuming you're using a discrete NIC? Have you updated the drivers for it? Have you tried using the motherboard's on-board NIC?

Had the exact same problem a while ago. Tried to update drivers, and stuff but it turned out some network part on my motherboard was broken, I got a new one from the store I ordered it from. I would recommend you talk to the store you bought the your motherboard/PC from. Hopefully this helps.

are you on cable internet or DSL? you using onboard network card or discrete one?
You can use the usb port and see if that helps if on cable internet.
