Hey guys, I've been trying to figure out how to run Diablo 2 in full screen, but everything that I've seen hasn't worked for me.
I've only recently been playing D2 since D3 isn't too far away and as I'm so used to every game that I play being in full screen I find it hard to play when D2 is less than half the size of my monitor.
If anyone can help me run D2 in a high res please feel free to reply!
Thanks

You can't run it in higher than 800x600. If you want full screen it will be stretched. If you run it in a window (add -w) you can maximize the window and keep the proportions.

Unfortunately Diablo II is awesome capped. Briefly, this means that when inserted into a mathematical formula derived in part from Newtonian and Einsteinien laws of physics and Nietzscheien ideals of art and Dionysian pleasure, Diablo II has been proved to be awesome at it's absolute height. Should Diablo 2 be made more awesome (again, an impossibility), the rest of the universe would have to actually become less awesome in order to compensate.
So no, there is no high resolution patch for D2.
Plus that would be cheating, since in 2D games more resolution means seeing more of the game world, not just sharper images.

Well, its hard to fix that, since with the addon you are only able to upgrade the gfx to 800x600 which is not realy that high either..

So, what you're saying is you're running D2 in a window? Try tinkering with the icon on your desktop changing the properties and in there, the compatibility. If that doesn't work, try going into start ---> programs ---> Diablo II folder and changing something in the video settings there.
There's also a program (essentially a hack, or a mod if you like it less criminal'ish) that lets you change the resolution in the game up to 1400x900. If you're going to play SP you'll be fine, but if you use it on B.net you might get banned, because it changes some intervals that aren't supposed to be tinkered with. Even Blizzard said the game isn't supposed to run in anything higher than 1024xsomething. The game just isn't built that way. They tried to patch in higher resolutions, but they utterly failed. It's hardcoded into the game as much as the stash size.
Also, PM a mod to move this thread into the Sports & GamesTech support subforum.

You can try multiRes mod but it is illegal on bnet. But if you play single-pl. or non-battlenet, you will be ok
EDIT: just when posted, post above appeared. Damn.

I play a modded version of D2 so I can't get banned haha.
And getting banned from D2 is the least of my worries.
And yes, at the moment im running in windowed mode by changing the properties of the launch icon. but i want the quality on full screen .

I remember when 800x600 was the shit,,, good times

I was interested in playing d2 at a higher resolution (especially because my monitor doesn't display 800x600 well, only 640x480) but Multires only works on pre- 1.13 versions of diablo 2. I did play diablo 2 for a long time at like 1.11 or something, but multires must not have been very popular then or something, because even after looking for something like it, I couldn't find one (or one I did find didn't work).

Yea i tried using that which i have done before but when I follow the instructions from the readme file I then go to open the game and it says "The ordinal 286 could not be located in the dynamic link library Storm.dll."
Bit of a FML moment. Im guessing it is something to do with my version or watever, I kinda cant be bothered changing anything to get it to work though haha

Oh my.. this looks like the shit! can anyone confirm if this works? tested?
|
Yes it works, but you need to use a pre-1.13 version. I assume that is what Ashby is having problems with, but there are certainly other potential problems you can run into as well.
