@JPP thanks for the answers and clarification
@nOondn I heard that the SS Kana has issues and I was suggested to not buy it. As for Zowie Am and CM Storm Spawn, they're both really good mice so I don't know how to give you suggestions for that....
@drn206 Since you've used the diamondback for so long and have finger/claw grip, I would suggest CM Storm Spawn, Razer Abyssus, Zowie Mico, or SteelSeries Kinzu. There are a lot of other claw/fingertip mice out there you can look for.

Is a Kinzu v2 any good for this game? And is it worth the $42 price that just seems like its never going on sale

If you're going for Kinzu v2, you could consider the v2 Pro Edition. Coming from SteelSeries, they're known to upgrade their lineup of products if it's good, like the Kinzu. Whenever you see SteelSeries with v2 or more on products, it usually means it's good and it's been upgraded. So I don't see why you wouldn't get Kinzu v2 if you want.

I mean I like the look and shape but for only 3 buttons, little customization, probably not the best sensor, and still some reported problems for $42?
Im probably sure its a good mouse, but I'm not sure whether its a good price considering abyssus (amazon for $32) has the same sensor as DA (DA is voted to have one of the best sensors for its price and even though razers are known to die out, Da sensor seems reliable), same customization, same size, etc etc. It just looks like a weirdly shaped mouse made with what looks to me is very apparant, cheap plastic which is why I probably dont want it

Hm I guess prices do vary worldwide. I can get Abyssus and Kinzu both at the same price here so I didn't take price into consideration. As for reported problems, I heard that in the Pro edition the problems have been resolved, but I don't know since I've never used the Kinzu before, I'm just saying based on what my friends tell me (they do A LOT of research and have hands-on tried them so I trust them).
I have, however, used the Abyssus before, and I think it's a really good mouse. For similar prices you can also consider the CM Storm Spawn which is what I am currently using switching over from the Abyssus.

hello mouse experts. Was wondering if i could get some advice.
Am about to buy a Steeleseries 9HD mouse pad ---> http://steelseries.com/us/products/surfaces/steelseries-9hd
Is there any mice that would work good with that pad? I was about to buy a Sensei, but from what ive been reading, seems like its a mixed bag, so im really looking for a more solid choice. Heard good things about Xai, and Kinsu mice, but im not sure how to determine if theyre ok for me. Right now im using 1000 DPI Sidewinder X8, which ive been using for over 2 years, and getting tired of it. So if anyone has any good solid choices for a good mouse, id really appreciate it, as long as i can get around 1000 DPI sensitivity, thats all i really need in features, and im kind of a claw grip, Sensei looked good to me actually, but i dont want to take a chance since the reviews have not been stellar. thanks folks, will keep on lookin'.

The sensei is one of the best implementations of the Avago 9500 laser sensor used in most flagship mice, and that sensor works best on hard surfaces. The main problem with the Avago 9500 is that there is some hardware-level acceleration that just can't be gotten rid of. But honestly, you're not going to find anything significantly better unless you get an optical mouse.
Optical mice usually have limited DPI settings, so you'd want to look around for one that can give you 1000dpi (mine does 800/1600/a bad 3200 DPI, for instance) and has the shape/buttons/weight you want. Laser mice can usually be dialed to whatever setting you want. Not sure why the difference. *shrug*
I think some of this is covered in the vast material in the OP.

Thanks for the reply, i will say, i have noticed a lot of EG players are using the Sensei, which is one reason i was going to get it, since pro's i know are using it, and doing well with it. And you are correct about it being better on hard surfaces, since in the OP it says that its crap on cloth mouse pads. So, hmmmm lol maybe i will be going with the Sensei after all. Damnit! so many choices out there today!

I was thinking about getting a sensei but found out that in June/July they are coming out with a new version. It will be like 30 dollars cheaper, have a rubber surface (instead of that really odd metalish one) and be a bit lighter. I think ill wait for that to come around. It won't have the options for all the colors or have the LCD display, but to be honest that's a plus for me, personally.

Are you referring to the Sensei RAW?

The Abyssus looks cheap? Heck the kinzu v2 is cheap with its glossy plastic, cheap TTC switches and plastic, non-Teflon, mouse feet. And the kinzu v2 is god awful if you play low sens because it has very very low malfunction speed, non to mention the fact that it's a tracking disaster at anything below 1600dpi. I would never recommend steelseries products to anyone because in my opinion they're overpriced and gimmicky. Many have accused Razer of the same crimes, but at least their stuff works relatively well, Abyssus and deathadder IMO aren't ridiculously overpriced and they perform flawlessly

Anyone curious can look it up here : http://steelseries.com/products/mice/steelseries-sensei-raw. Basically it looks like a better Sensei, in that it's cheaper, has less gimmicks (16.7m colors XD), and has no interpolated CPI. The double counts per inch was an absolutely ridiculous idea to begin with, so it's good that they got rid of it.
On another note, I wondered if we couldn't institute a policy similar to OCN's mouse suggestion thread to help everyone out. Basically, there are a number of questions that we (the ones suggesting) need to know in order to suggest an appropriate mouse to someone. I'll post the quote here:
Originally by F u r u y a: To prospective buyers, please list the top 1-2 attributes you're looking for in a mouse. Additionally, answer the below questions to the best of your abilities. The more detailed you are, the better we can find a mouse that suits your needs.
1. What's your grip style? palm, claw, fingertip, or some hybrid 2. What's your sensitivity? low, medium, or high (distance/360º rotation) 3. What's your maximum budget?
4. Do you want additional buttons?
5. What games do you play?
6. Do you mind angle snapping?
7. Other relevant information: Input anything else you want. some examples: LOD, ambidextrous shape, weight, wireless, non-braided cord, glossy finish, button activation force, driverless, onboard memory, etc...

I personally suggest buying a surface to match the mouse, not vice versa. The surface is there to make the mouse work better. Choose the mouse that suits you best, then get the surface based on that.
Why exactly are you looking at the 9HD, out of curiosity?

I'm debating whether to buy the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 or the CM Storm Spawn. While normally I would just buy the Spawn, I've heard nice things about the Microsoft mouse, and I would some opinions.
I have a Palm grip, and no preference regarding DPI.
|
I've never personally used the Spawn, but it seems like that and the IME 3.0 are quite different. The 3.0 is basically the largest mouse you could possibly get, whereas the Spawn is much smaller and lighter. Not sure how good the Spawn would be for a true Palm grip user with those dimensions.

If you're a palm grip person, then the Spawn is not for you. Spawn is pretty small and it's designed to be ergonomic claw-grip. If you have palm grip then get the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0. If you want to explore other options there are other palm grip mice out there you can get, such as Razer DeathAdder which is one of the best palm grip mouse available now.

People give no recognition to steelseries ikari, for me it's the best palm grip mouse I've ever used and I've had both intellimice (1.1 and 3.0), a Deathadder, EC2, kinzu and kinzu v2, xai, mx510&8&g400s. Apart from the fact that optical ikaris software is pretty dire I can't think of any other major issue in the Ikaris.
PS. The pink version is the most badass looking mouse ever :D

My current Steelseries Cloth mouse pad, is getting preety old, but its mainly that over time it feels like there is more friction. Example: So il play SC for an hour, then i have to rotate the pad 90 degrees, then the mouse will glide very nice for another hour, then rinse and repeat. My friend has the 9HD, and a Deathadder, and it feld amazing imo. But i dont like the Deathadder right now, i really dont like the amount DPI and increments it asks for. Im sitting perfectly fine at 1000 DPI, which i cant get with a Deathadder, or any other Razer mouse as far as i know.
Posted above me was a great Questions list. So im just going to ask that right now, since im feeling like getting the Sensei, but man i have so much to learn about Mice, not to mention whether or not to go for the RAW version or not, so i will ask these questions, and probly learn a shit load thanks to you kind folks. Ok here goes!
1. What's your grip style?
Claw/Fingertip if that makes any sense? Its preety much just my fingertips touching the mouse, palm is not touching at all, fingers are curved like claw style.
2. What's your sensitivity?
1000 DPI, willing to go to 800 if its worth it.
3. What's your maximum budget?
Anything!
4. Do you want additional buttons?
Not really, as i have no use for added buttons for SC2. although the 2 thumb buttons on my X8 are nice for surfing the Web, but really not necessarry.
5. What games do you play?
SC2 all the way! some FPS and the usual AAA titles, Mass Effect/Skyrim, or any new games that come out, i will play, but SC2 is all i care about in terms of a mouse.
6. Do you mind angle snapping?
I have no clue what this means, can someone explain?
7. Other relevant information:
I just want a good, solid, and WIRED mouse. been using my Wireless Sidewinder X8 for over 2 years, and need something new. And yes i will be getting the 9HD mouse pad from Steelseries, because i love the surface. I dont need anything fancy, no need for LED's, or millions of buttons, or macro's or w/e. So far i like the Sensei, since i can get exactly the DPI i want, and looking at the Sensei RAW as well, both look good. But im sure you guys probly have some other suggestions. Thanks in advance folks!

Of the two mice you listed, the IME 3.0 would be the better choice. I'd also throw in the Razer DeathAdder as an alternative. Both are excellent palm grip mice and should suit you well.
DO NOT GET THE CM STORM SPAWN, unless you have really small hands. This mouse is made for claw grippers, but fingertip users can get away with it too. The Spawn is waaaaay too small to be palm-gripped by anyone that has average-sized hands. Perfect mouse for me, but given your grip-style this is not the mouse for you.
