after a few mins, it feels good. For a claw grip, the thumb reaches just far enough to get past the ridge comfortably. For fingertip, you can get leverage on or underneath the center of mass, which is nice.

I'm just noticing the LOD hours later, it's a touch low for my liking. I accidentally partially stopped tracking a few times when re-adjusting mouse

+ Show Spoiler +

too low sens? ;p

feels lighter than it is because of the shape of the mouse and where grip can be. The weight difference between g303 and g402 isn't that huge but the feel is completely different, with g402 grip a lot more of my force was going downwards into the desk (enough to shake it when making sharp fast movements) while with g303 i'm almost lifting it off the desk because i have good leverage under the center of mass (which is in a great place due to way the front of the mouse is thin and not tall)

--------------------

just got perfect video (60fps handcam) to show why i prefer moderately high LOD, and not the super low LOD that some companies seem to be going for.

First few seconds there^ my movement jerked the mouse off the ground a tiny bit. Tracking stopped and cursor fell short of where it was supposed to go

edit: day 2-3~ i really like this mouse, it would be a completely different mouse if they removed the ridge on the sides. I don't think it would be a straight improvement at all, that bump gives you a surprising amount of control with both fingertip and claw. This is not a palm grip mouse, which isn't a bad thing.

I don't really like it. The shape is so weird.

My current mouse (gigabyte m6800) shows problem with the sensor, so when I move to fast it just stays put on the same place.

1. What's your grip style?
palm

2. What's your sensitivity?
800dpi

3. What's your maximum budget?
~30-40 euro

4. Do you want additional buttons?
no

5. What games do you play?
reflex (quake like)
csgo

6. Do you mind angle snapping?
Yes

7. Other relevant information:
aslong as the sensor is good, thats all I care about.
The harder it becomes, the more you should focus on the basics.

For non-FPS, it doesn't work for me at all without thumb on or further up the mouse than where the ridge is. I see some people trying to fingertip grip with thumb on the glassy part of the butt and that seems terrible, i have good experiences with thumb further up the mouse though.

I use ~500-1000dpi for 1920x1080 1:1. + Show Spoiler +
Not playing much at the moment though because i seem to have done some somewhat significant damage to my right hand from using a PC for 50 hours a week every week for like years as well as bad grip and squeezing pen when playing w/ graphics tablet~ that was definitely the trigger, but the constant mouse usage (sometimes with bad posture) probably didn't help at all

I bought Razer Taipan 5 months ago for Starcraft, and its freaking good! Its ambidextrous so it fits both left and right handed people. Also its design is kinda made for RTS games, because its for claw grip. And I saw pro gamers use it. I think Jaedong uses it...

Sensor is not top level though. That's surprisingly hit and miss with expensive mice because most of the market does not know any better or care about it. Doesn't mean that you can't play well with it - but it's a relative handicap

Hi. I'm thinking about getting a replacement for my Razer Lachesis of 6 years old because one of the buttons has started to respond poorly and I kinda rely on it. In the process I'm hoping to improve the sensor and the button layout as well.

1. What's your grip style?
Fingertip

2. What's your sensitivity?
1000 dpi

3. What's your maximum budget?
range: 50 - 150 euro

4. Do you want additional buttons?
Yes. My current mouse has 7 (9 actually, but 2 for lefties so unused). I'd like to keep that. right, mid, left. 2 extra on top. 2 thumb buttons. The buttons are probably a higher priority than the sensor quality for me, but I'm hoping to get both.

5. What games do you play?
Heroes of the Storm
Final Fantasy XIV
Starcraft 2 sometime in the future

6. Do you mind angle snapping?
Probably yes

7. Other relevant information:
To me the perfect mouse would probably be the imperator with a top level sensor. Due to adjustable thumb buttons and good form factor for me personally.

I warmly recommend the Logitech G502 Proteus Core. Probably the best value for a high end gaming mouse. I didn't need any adaptation time at all from my G9x.
I don't know about the extra buttons though, they're there, but it's not in my habits to use those :D (I use a lot of different mice at the same time, so I have to restrain myself to the 3 common buttons). They seem well placed to me.

I have come across that one and it did indeed catch my interest. My biggest concern is the potentially inconvenient middle mouse button all Logitech mice seem to have. I've also found the Roccat Kone Pure Military which I feel (can only tell from pictures) might suit my needs as well. I hope I can find an opportunity to try them out. Any other suggestions along these lines are very welcome.

Another question I have about this. How is adapting from a twin eye laser sensor to an optical one? I have heard that some people have a lot of trouble doing it due to being used to the shortcomings. I don't think my muscle memory is on that level though.

Not sure what you mean exactly, the DPI switch button? It should be in a good place, it doesn't have to do anything (configurable) and i don't think you'd press it accidentally.

It should only be better. I mean, it shouldn't be hard to adjust - your skill ceiling and rate of improvement when practicing mouse control would just increase.

I do prefer the g303 over the 402/502 shell just because the g303 is already kinda medium sized, the 502 is a heavy mouse.

I mean the scroll wheel, which is also pressable. I tend to scroll it while pressing it on most logitech gaming mice I've tried and it seems to be a common problem. I have a g400 lying around and the biggest reason not to use it was the scroll wheel button as well as the DPI switch buttons being too small (I remap them for use in games). I read in a review that the g502 has this too.

I've decided to give the Roccat a try first. Have been reading into it and it seems to fit my needs perfectly regarding features, shape (it's geared towards fingertipping) and sensor. If I don't like it I will probably look into the logitechs further, cause they seem pretty close as well.

Can anyone tell me if there are any new mouses worth considering? My Deathadder 2013 just died so I'm getting a refund, thank god it's almost 2 years. So I'm looking to buy a new one, I've had Razer Deathadder 2011 and Razer Diamondback before. I prefer the mouse to have at least 5 buttons.
1. What's your grip style?
Palm

2. What's your sensitivity?
3500dpi, 800 when cs:go

3. What's your maximum budget?
range: 30 - 100 euro

4. Do you want additional buttons?
Yes. At least 5

5. What games do you play?
Dota 2
CS:GO
other random games

6. Do you mind angle snapping?
yes absolutely. Accuracy > all

I thought most mice did that, the g303 one did not strike me as loose spin. g402 scroll wheel click is awful but g502 one is completely different, have not tried it

g9x and mizar sensor is not good, 402 is quite good.

502 sensor is better than 402 but the 402 is pretty much flawless already, it's not stuff that most people would care about.

303/502 are best sensor out there. 402 is not quite as good technically, but it's still a very high tier sensor and shouldn't be worse in any noticable way

I like it. The sensor is pretty sick. I've gotten used to the G303.

Not going to lie though, it took a while as the shape is very strange.

i read that it has sensor problems where rattling sound is caused because its not aligned properly and that it affects the perfomance.it seems many who bought this had this and that those who didnt have it developed it later

someone please advice me on this
