I am eyeing the Logitech g100s right now, is it basically a mx 310 ? I hope the right button works since that thing is the first to broke on my old 310

Nope, the G100s is using the MX300 shape if you ever seen that mouse, isn't like the MX310.

So the Logitech G1 was optical, was 125 Hz and had 800 DPI from some ancient forum posts I found with Google. It might have been updated at some point to those 1000 DPI?

The current Logitech M90 and M100 and B100 are 1000 DPI (also 125 Hz as they are mice for office use). They might have stopped using the old 800 DPI stuff across the board and it might make sense that they also changed the G1 at that point.

Anyway... if interested in that 125 Hz Logitech G1, why not instead buy that Logitech B100 for example? It's only something like 6 € and seems to be about Logitech Mini size, so might be closer to Zowie Mico shape.

There's also a Logitech RX250 for less than 10 € that has the G1/MX300 shape instead of the Mini shape.

I don't know if there's issues after overclocking the USB port on the M90/M100/B100/RX250 compared to a G1. I could imagine that it's the kind of sensor that freaks out when moving the hand too fast.

EDIT: Found out the B100 is 800 dpi.

For some people, an ideal mouse is heavy - but the weight profile and density of batteries is rarely sought after, and compromising on sensor in a world with lots of 3090/3310 and similar mice also not good. Not nearly as forgivable on an $80 mouse as a $20-30 mouse, but then again i am someone to pay whatever it takes for better tools - $50 extra when you're using for 5000 hours is only 1 cent an hour in the end

not so heavy

It's 152g without cable, which is more than twice as heavy as some small mice and pretty much heavier than anything that exists that doesn't have to use batteries. Even this monster - http://gaming.logitech.com/en-gb/product/g502-proteus-core-tunable-gaming-mouse - weighs 121g, for example

worth considering for general use, but not as a competitive tool IMO

heavier than wired mouses doesnt mean too heavy imo. I hate too light mice so G700s is perfectly fine for me. Try it but I dont think its that heavy, at least compared to other wireless mice.

I am using the updated G1 with 1000 dpi.
The shape is simple and ambidextrous-- properties of which made the logitech mini optical so popular for bw. Tracking is amazing on almost any surface at high speed. I play high apm on broodwar/sc2/league of legends, it's excellent.

Shape is the only real thing to consider imo.

Did you have to buy new feet for the G1 or have you just been using the ones that came with it?

Been using the same ones for about a year, since I bought it. Still works well. I think it helps that I use a cloth pad so it has no reason to wear down any time soon. There is like a pack of 12 feet (12/4 = 3 full replacements) for like $5 if I ever need to buy them.

The G100s is btw. about $25 including shipping on amazon.com, so very close in price if you include the shipping costs on that G1.

Is aliexpress reliable? I hear some people buying from there and banggood because they're cheap, but I'm unsure.
I found one that costs $9 total but can take 3 weeks for shipping hahahaha

Also, does anyone know what kind of switches the g1 uses for clicking? I want to know if it's similar in feel to the zowie mico.

Just try it out yourself. It's super easy.

You start up a first-person-shooter game. Aim at some corner somewhere. Mark the position of your mouse on your mouse pad. Now move the mouse as fast as you can to the left or to the right. After that, slowly move it back to the position you marked on the mouse pad. If there's no acceleration, the crosshair in the game will go back to the corner you were aiming at.

To see if there's random acceleration that's sometimes positive and sometimes negative, try different speeds for that first fast hand movement.

I guess you could also do this with the mouse pointer on the desktop, but in an FPS game you have infinite room for left/right hand movements as there's no mouse pointer hitting the screen edge like on the desktop.

It's in the heaviest weight class though - where ~70-90g means small and 120-130g big, a 150g mouse with weird weight distribution stands out a lot
