The thing I didn't like about my deathadder was the fact I couldn't set it to 800dpi without opening the razer software.
Claw grip style, 800dpi is what I am most comfortable with mostly playing sc2, some shooters on the side.
What mouse would you guys recommend to me? I am hoping to grab it in a couple hours if possible because I wanted to play some tonight as its the only time I actually have free for the next little while.
Thanks! What do you mean by you couldn't set it to 800 dpi without going into the program? You can remap the side buttons to act as dpi throttles. I was hoping not to run the software and the DPI is set by software I ended up getting the RTS edition Theron from TTesports What makes it RTS edition? It has a laser instead of optical sensor. Oh and it has side lights for apm -_-
Generally, lasers are worse than optical sensors for competitive gaming considering they're less accurate. x.x I would've recommended you the G400s. Pretty cheap, but so awesome. Very in-depth review will be up this weekend.

It seems good so far, I'll see how I feel in the next few days
Better than the other thing I had and it was pretty cheap compared to the other stuff in stock.

The deathadder sensor was probably way better than the one in your new mouse, but as long as you like the shape and don't notice the inconsistency it's fine :p

Im liking it so far, it has a 60day return policy so if I decide I don't like it I can go back. Store was closing 5 mins after I showed up so I didn't have much time to browse, and I've had enough Deathadders die on me I decided not to buy another one.

I come from using the MX518 and the G400. My G400 is dying due to gross abuse of the cable leading to it dying on me several years into its lifespan, so I'm going to get a new mouse + a bungee as a replacement. This leads me to choosing between the G400s and the G500s because I haven't seen any other mice with extra buttons right above and below the wheel similar to the G400 and G500, along with another extra one. I use those for switching DPI when I switch between browsing and playing CS:GO, as well as push-to-talk in Teamspeak so I'd rather not have to change my habits.
I've read that the G400 still has a (relatively) flimsy cable, and the G500 is only $5 more on Amazon, so I was thinking of getting the G500 instead, but I also heard the laser sensors are worse than optical ones.

The G500(s) doesn't have those buttons above and below the mouse wheel. They are moved to the outer side of the mouse instead, to the left of the left mouse button.

The one that matters more is the other one below the wheel. That's the one I use for push-to-talk. Having to learn a new location for the other two buttons isn't a big deal.
Edit: Welp, apparently the button below the wheel actually switches modes on the scroll wheel. So that's odd. Very unexpected. No push to talk bind for me, I'm afraid.

There's also a G502 now, which is pretty expensive. That one's optical.

That one's dimensions are actually a bit smaller than the G400 and G500. Most reviewers seem to use fingertip/claw grips on that from what I can tell, while I use a palm grip. I also have decently large hands, so I don't think I'm going to get that mouse.
What's with the difference between optical and laser anyway? I've read that laser can be less reliable in terms of accuracy, but I've seen hardly any 'hard evidence'.

That's not impression i got, it seems very few reviewers use a mouse like me (750dpi fingertip on 1920x1080 or ~30cm/180 in FPS)
Some of the modern laser sensors had very bad consistency, like you could move the mouse the same distance twice and instead of moving 1000 pixels, it would move 980 pixels one time and 1050 pixels the next time. For 2d usage (sc2/osu) that leads to inaccuracy, randomly missing stuff where you otherwise wouldn't when relying on muscle memory, and for 3d usage like an FPS, it resulted in overshooting your target by a variable amount depending on how FAST you made the mouse swipe instead of just how far you made it. As 1:1 response is a pretty fundamentally important thing, a lot of people who value mouse performance wanted to avoid them.

Well, I skimmed some reviews on Amazon, so maybe my impression isn't as thorough.
That sounds like a very good reason to avoid laser mice when possible. Thanks!

Most people really don't care as long as it kind of works, but i take sensor and system performance quite seriously and others who do so might be disappointed after buying something like that

After I tried the Sensei, I'm not going back to laser mice for a while. The only advantage is higher DPI, and you'll basically never need the amounts of DPI you can get from a high-end laser mouse.

Hey, Cyro, don't you want to try those new versions of the Roccat Kone Pure Optical? You'll find them for £60 if you search for "kone naval" and "kone camo".

Hello, My gf just gave me corepad glass surface, which my roccat kova+ doesn't work 100% well on.
Because I want to be good bf, I will probably buy a new mouse (also the right button on Kova gets somewhat stucked all the time so there's other reasons). Could you please help me with some tip?
Specifications: Should work on glass mat 100% perfectly all the time I'm playing CS:GO and Dota most of the time I'm left handed (so no G502 for me) I don't care for extra buttons, the less the better Price doesn't matter that much I have a bit larger hands, I think I hold mouse in "claw grip"
Help please :-)

I generally don't "try" stuff that costs 100usd

Uh...the only mouse that I know for sure works on glass (wtf?) is the Logitech MX Anywhere mouse. Unfortunately it's a wireless mouse and isn't made for gaming.
But definitely do NOT buy a Zowie MiCO. This I know for sure does not work on glass (or anything other than cloth surfaces).

So I did a bunch of research and picked up the G502 as suggested by you guys a couple days ago. I'm pretty happy with my purchase, overall the mouse is really nice! The freescrolling thing isn't super useful, but its nice to be able to just spin the wheel for no reason when in a loading screen or waiting around to find a match in dota/cs.

I actually prefer to keep the wheel on free-scroll outside of games simply because the notched-scroll is so loud and slippery. The bad thing is that any other mice I use I now expect free-scrolling lol.

Hi there, I'm very used to cheap desktop mice that are meant for everyday use, but I would like to upgrade to a middle tier gamer mouse. 1. What's your grip style? Claw/Palm where I have a claw on the first two buttons, but my palm doesn't contact the mouse. I'm used to cheap mice though, so I can adjust if need be. 2. What's your sensitivity? Low to medium, though that's mainly since I've only used very cheap mice ($5-20 max) 3. What's your maximum budget? $30-40, though it can be stretched 4. Do you want additional buttons? No, I've never used them before, I don't think they will be useful. 5. What games do you play? League of Legends mainly 6. Do you mind angle snapping? Doesn't really matter 7. Other relevant information: Needs at least a 5 ft cord if not cordless, preferably longer since my setup has an overly sized desk with computer pretty far from the mouse.
