Not a fan of the ambidextrous mouse mold, the shape is pretty bad compared to the mx518. But I decided to keep trying the mouse. The lights are cool and it is a decently solid mouse. The real problem came with the mouse clicking. I thought maybe I broke the right mouse button after a week or so of using this mouse. It did not always give a tactile "click" feedback and can be hard to press at times. So I RMA'd the mouse and waited 2 1/2 weeks for one to come back.. So either they sent me the same mouse back with new packaging, or the mouse is a dud. Could anyone that used the mx518 in the past recommend an upgrade?

The Logitech G400s / G400 is the direct successor to the Logitech MX518. Identical shape, better optical sensor. Why give up on something that works.

Had a couple from Xai to Sensei to Raw, awful buttons, squeaky and loud scroll wheel, awkward shape to adjust to. The Sensei was the first mouse to straight up die on me (dead sensor). Go with G400s or something, just be careful with the cord, I heard most problems are with the cables, even though my old G400 was fine until I sold it. Don't know what those raging nerds did to break a mouse cord like that.

Just go to amazon.com. They have all current products like G100s and Abyssus.

- Palm when browsing the internet, claw when gaming. 2. What's your sensitivity? - Mid? 3. What's your maximum budget? - I don't have an exact number for that, but I'm on a pretty small budget. Definitely below $100. Would like to be closer to $50 if there's anything worthwhile in that range. 4. Do you want additional buttons? - I do like to have a couple extra buttons on the thumb. What kind of monster scrolls all the way up to hit the back button on their browser? 5. What games do you play? - Starcraft 2 is the only one which I'll need quick movements for (unless the new Civ 5 expansion REALLY changes things.) 6. Do you mind angle snapping? - I didn't know it was a thing until just now, so probably not. 7. Other relevant information: - I don't particularly care one way or the other on the wired or wireless debate. I'm currently running with an old MS Intellimouse, but it's always been a felt a bit too large to be truly comfortable. The reason I'm upgrading is that the left click on this damn mouse is adding tons of extra clicks for no apparent reason and I think that's probably a hardware thing rather than a software one. Thanks!

I think I might try the Abyssus. Yeah right now my mini optical is having some weird problems where the cursor just flies off like crazy at random times ![]()

It's a killer mouse. My GF just received her's... it's an awesome mouse. Mico doesn't have side buttons though.

The Mini Optical is waaaay harder (and more expensive) to find new, like G3 levels of tough to find. But the G1 is still readily available if you want one, just order from Korean stores that sell them bulk like K1Shop2010, SnowPrincess2011 or BuykingKorea_Seoul (I used K1Shop three times and was quite satisfied with service) and you should be able to get a legit one for about $30 shipped (also, the shipping is insanely fast from any of these stores. Korean postal service is knows how to move stuff quickly). They've gone up in price a bit because they are out of production now but are still well worth it. The glossy version is easy to find but the matte version is getting more difficult to find and expensive (they're like $45-50 now or so). I'm glad I got my matte G1s a couple years back when they were still just as cheap as glossy. They're amazing mice. I bought extras so I wouldn't be in your situation anytime soon. After using the G1 for nearly 2 years I can't use anything else, they just don't feel right.Does anyone know where I could order Logitech mini optical or Logitech g1? If I can't get these then I'm looking towards the Abyssus or the g100. I'm basically looking for a smaller mouse and those 2 seem ok for me if anyone could give me some input I'd greatly appreciate it!

Another option is the Imperator 2012. I use it, would reluctantly buy it again, but can't recommend it 100%, so a short list of pros and cons. I have big hands, use fingertip grip and use high (3200 dpi most of the time) sensitivity. That was the reason to switch from my 518, whose 1600 dpi (I had one from the first batch) was enough on a 1440x900 resolution laptop, but too low on my desktop. Precision is great, ergonomics are perfect for me. The wheel button is so good that it is the first mouse where I actually use it, the two thumb buttons can be moved and placed perfectly, weight is low similar to the 518. However the plastic material in the thumb area feels low quality and is way too slick, and now after ~20 months of use the left button acts up and produces the dreaded doubleclicks when pressed only once. Most likely I will replace it with another Imperator but also consider the G400s and the Kone pure.

I've upgraded from my beloved WMO which never behaved like this. I'm using a puretrak talent as a pad (also have a QCK heavy which causes same problems).

You should make sure the mouse runs on 1000 Hz. That could be important for highest speed it will track. I bet no one ever tested the mouse with 125 Hz. Perhaps your particular mouse is broken.
