Whats the easiest way to get used to a new mouse besides time?

going from a Microsoft optical mouse to a Razer Mamba is a huge difference and i feel as im losing a lot of games now because of this mouse..

Also how long would u say it normal takes to used to a change like this?
I also bought i new keyboard the G15 however im scared to plug it in since im having so many issues with the mouse..

I figured id drop the dpi on the mouse to about 1700 and slowly increase it every other week or so until its at max 5600..

Please help me with ur past experiences with these types of changes

Thanks
Angel

I'm guessing precise movements to get used to the mouse weight?

The other option would be to bear the downtime and buy the mouse continuously or stock it. (like I did - got 6 of the same mice because it was 50% off!)
Stuck.

from a basic microsoft mouse which is probably @ 800 dpi to a gaming mouse that is at 5600 dpi. you don't need to play @ the max dpi but i think the best way is to try to match to what your sens was in your microsoft mouse. Synchronizing the sensitivities will let you get used to the mouse faster.

I just mess around with it on Windows before playing with it. Getting used to the movement, clicks, etc. Only took a day or so to adjust to a better mouse.

Sollis, thats just for windows sensitivity, that has nothing to do with Razer mouse DPI, as the DPI on the razer mouse is done by the sensor, and how much DPI you get is controlled by the drivers. Just lower the DPI on your mouse OP, I have a deathadder and I only use like 800.

800 dpi is enough.
I had the same problem as you. I used a Dell mouse for 5 years before buying a Razer Krait. My problem was not about the mouse ergonomy or sensivity. It was about the acceleration and "smoothing" that the Razer driver included. I really couldn't get used to it. I tried different acceleration settings etc, but I couldn't get something that I liked.

I uninstalled the Razer driver and now I use my Razer mouse as a plug n play usb mouse, and only use windows mouse settings so I have exactly the same acceleration parameters as with my Dell mouse.

You may try to uninstall the Razer drivers, so your mouse will act like your former mouse, but with the Razer great ergonomy and teflon feet.

best advice i can give is, keep the mouse sensitivity you had with your old mouse. After you get used to the shape of the new one adjust the DPI or Sens to whats comfortable for you.

i played q3 for almost a decade and had to switch mice countless times due to sponsors and growing RSI and i can tell you that all the fuzz about DPI is BS. You can play this game competitevly with with a 1990 ball mouse as long as ur comfortable with it, so always buy the mouse that fits your hand.

Keep messing around with it. I know how this feels, since I've had to switch mice a lot. Play mouse accuracy games, like osu!

http://osu.ppy.sh

There are a lot of flash games out there too.

No need to increase your dpi, just find whats comfortable for you. To get used to your mouse, play accuracy-based flash games or do minesweeper speed runs for about 5 hours straight. That got me used to my Abyssus after switching from an old MS Wireless Optical.

just a week ago i bought myself the steelseries kinzu and i was very surprised how fast i adapted to it

if you dont get a feeling for it or you're not satisfied just give it back, i think you can get the best results by using the mouse you feel the most comfortable with

i only use a very, very lightweight mouse because i feel handycapped and lazy if its a bit heavier

Yeah honestly, the best way to get used to it is just play a bunch of games and after a week or so you won't even notice.

There's no "shortcut" lol.

I got used to Razer Deathadder instantly, such a good mouse. I think the fact that a mouse instantly feels good in your hand is a sign of a mouse that's close to perfect for you.

Adjust the mouse so that it has the same sensitivity. 800dpi or 1600dpi is perfectly fine to play any game successfuly, i always stick to that. Most important thing you have to do is DISABLE MOUSE ACCELERATION, my Windows calls it "Increase pointer accuracy", i don't use Razer products so i don't know the software it comes with. Other than that you might want to get a mouse pad. If you're not using one, you should start, it increases your performance by alot.

Use the same dpi as your last mouse and uh, it'll take like a week max. I'm an old man and use 400dpi still on my mx518.

Mainly because going from work where it's a flat 400 and coming home to 800 was a hassle, so I just stick with 400. Just learned to be faster.

Getting used to a new mouse is the only thing deterring me from getting one . I am totally ready to invest into new mouse, but it's not like they are ready to give one for a weekly trial in order for me to see if it's gonna suit me.
