I am planning to upgrade AMD 6870 to 500+-e prize range graphic card so I guess the best solution will be GTX 680. Problem to me is always which version should I choose and since it's pretty new release should I wait for other versions to pop out or just go buy one now? Also since the current memory in the 680 is 2gb, will there be 3gb/4gb versions and if there will be how much +cost will they add? I am sorry if my most questions are ones that doesn't have answers, but if you do know I'd be glad to know. Thank you!
You could wait for Asus Direct CU II, Msi Twin Frozr 2/3, Evga classified, Gigabyte 3fanthing, they will cost anywhere between ~10-50 dollar more, for better cooling, your choice. I would suggest waiting for Evga's -AR version which has a lifetime warranty, but thats just my opinion. As for 3gb/4gb gtx 680 i dont think any info have been released yet, dont quote me on this though.
And if 3gb/4gb were to be released they would probably be +50$? I mean it doesnt even matter if you play on 1920x1080.

That summed pretty much entirely what I needed ^^ and yes I just want to play 1920x1080 and am not planning any higher since the last resolution I was used was 1280x1024 :DD
Btw how long will it take 'til EVGA-AR comes to stores?

even for 1080p a gtx680 is completly overkill, what games would you want to play?
|
Latest games preferred maxed out with solid fps, that is what I am hoping for. My cpu is i5-2500k which I can't see as a bottleneck atleast for now and 8gb ram.
|

the pus is enough, you will be able to play sc2 on ultra at 1080p, d3 having the szme graphics requierement i think, you would be able to play it on ultra as well
@pezuy personally i wouldn't go higher then an hd7870, which already seems too much for 1080p gaming to me

The Rosewill Green will work fine as well. I can't remember if it comes with 2 pci-e power connections, but that video card comes with adapters, so it doesn't matter.

While everybody is discussing gtx 680, I'll throw in a question... I've looked a bit on the internet but I can't seem to find the measurements for the heatsink? My heatsink supports 43mm, 51/61mm, 53mm, 80mm and 58mm mounting distance... Does the gtx 680 fit in any of these?

I am looking for a graphics card for my build and am having trouble deciding which one to get. I am running a i5 2500k with a z68 mobo. I would love to have a HD 6950 but since the whole bitcoin mining is getting started I have not found a single 6950 anywhere. Newegg doesnt even sell msi or asus 6950's right now. So i am wondering if i drop down to a 6870 will i be hurt a lot on performance. my budget is basically 300 for a graphics cards so im open to any suggestions.

Bitcoin mining started a long time ago. 6950s have been discontinued and replaced with the 7850.
|
Okay and how does ASUS's cooling compare to MSI's?
|
Both DirectCu II and Twin Frozr III / IV are good.
|
wow that is a good deal on the corsair cx 430.. is it worth replacing the rosewill 430 tho? the corsair is almost half the price
|
If you consider the mail-in rebate as a price reduction, then yeah it's definitely worth replacing if you haven't ordered yet. Corsair CX V2 is generally decent enough.

demands are still high for gtx 680, probably another 1-3 weeks for -AR model, anywhere between. Notice that Evga classified are also lifetime warranty, with a different look.

Pretty sure there aren't any pics of the GTX 680 Classified floating around and its going to be a few months.

What is your budget? 2000 usd max, though i like my current price range.
What is your resolution? I will be using 2 monitors, the primary is 1920x1080.
What are you using it for? I will be using it mainly for StarCraft 2 and hd (1080p) streaming with web cam and mic. I am looking for a pc that can handle even tough (like team games) situations with the graphics maxed.
What is your upgrade cycle? I have a relatively slow upgrade cycle, not quite sure as of right now but i would like to keep it running a couple of years and with upgrades along the way (Ram, SLI, OC)
When do you plan on building it? I plan on ordering and building it in April
Do you plan on overclocking? Yes, but not that much (have never done it before, advice needed)
Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? No but I will upgrade when needed (is this possible and practical with this build?)
Where are you buying your parts from? Hardwareversand.de , If any one has better sites that ship to Denmark please let me know. This site seems cheap and has decent reviews
???????? last i checked the sapphire radeon 7850 was $260 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102984 Pricing wars prob
