Anyway, I'm just going to update on my silent build status, I built together the alpenföhn peter and the 500rpm noctua fans on the gtx 460 and the result was quite decent. At 830core/2002memory, it didn't even break 80c after hours of folding, to compare with my previous cooler which crashed at 105c after just a few minutes of folding underclocked. On top of that, it's not audible, I tried putting my ear right next to the fans and I couldn't hear anything. This bodes well for the silent/passive PC im building with ivy bridge, I probably won't even have to change graphics card for a while. The mounting kit was pretty cool too. You can put 4 fans of any size (well 140mm max) to the graphics card, and the kit itself had so many mm ranges that it'll most likely cover most of the unreleased cards. The beast heatsink barely fit in my sonata case however, there was no headroom whatsoever haha.

edit: something like some branch of VLC may have limited support, some bugs and missing features, etc. For one, some of the codecs have no open-source decoders.

What is your budget? $800 What is your resolution? 1440x900 What are you using it for? Mainly gaming and schoolwork. What is your upgrade cycle? I hope this new computer can last me a while, so at least 3+ years. When do you plan on building it? Within the next 2 weeks. Do you plan on overclocking? No Do you need an Operating System? No Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? No Where are you buying your parts from? Online, I don't have any Microcenters near me. I live in the US.

Total: $663 6870 is overkill for 1440x900 just so you know. If you have no plans on upgrading to a 1080p monitor with this configuration than you can drop down to a 6770 and drop to a ~400w power supply. My hard drive is 160gb which feels too small for me nowadays. Optical drive worked fine.

I'm building my computer and now and I have a good deal (I think) on corsair power supply. I want to buy local because I don't want my stuff to get shipped since I need it soon. So the power supply would be for a i5-2500k that will be a bit overclocked for now, and gtx 560 ti (maybe evga superclocked). I think 600W would be more than enough for now, but maybe for later it would be useful (SLI). So my deals aret these : Corsair GS600W: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=33_441&item_id=032194 Corsair TX650m : http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=33_443&item_id=040598 Antec HCG-520W: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=33_441&item_id=033351 I know there is a 20$ difference between the 2 Corsair, but is the modular worth it since I have a 300R Corsair case which is a mid tower ? Anyway, thank TL and feel free to check is there is any other
