http://ncix.com/products/?sku=61959&vpn=BOXDP67DEB3&manufacture=Intel Is in stock. I honestly have no idea how to differentiate a good board from a bad one, besides looking at one that costs more, most are pretty empty of reviews.

So do you guys have any last minute ideas or changes I should make? Any input would be greatly appreciated. All together with a PC Toolkit it will be 477.94, If there is a component that would make a big enough difference id go to $500.

Specs: Windows 7 64 bit AMD Phenom II X4 945 Processor @ 3.0GHz 4x 2GB DDR3, Samsung? (if I'm using CPU-Z correctly) ATI Raedon HD 5450 300 Watt power supply I have a 1920x1080 monitor but I kinda hate it and would not mind using a different one if it can increase preformance. I'm assuming my graphics card is the biggest issue in this computer, but I'm definitely not the most knowledgeable in the subject. If someone could give me a suggestion on how to best maximize this computer it would be awesome. I guess a reasonable price range would be 200-400$ish, but I'm hoping I can just update the graphics card and maybe the power supply to be able to do what I want this computer to do. What mobo do you have? You could just get some aftermarket cooling and try overclocking that Phenom a little, maybe ~500-600 MHz. You should be able to have a decent 480p stream as long as your upload speed is fine. Streaming depends entirely on the CPU. You need a new PSU and GPU for sure though if you want to play new games above low settings (or at all, a 5450 can hardly deliver playable frame rates at 1080p) Good price on an Antec EarthWatts 500D PSU in Canada right now: http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=47698&vpn=EA500D-Green&manufacture=Antec&promoid=1130 And for GPU, you'll probably want a HD 6870/GTX 560 or a HD 6950/GTX560 ti. Edit: With current prices, I'd get: HD 6870: http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=58226&vpn=GV-R687OC-1GD&manufacture=Gigabyte&promoid=1130 GTX 560: http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=61236&vpn=GV-N56GOC-1GI&manufacture=Gigabyte Or if you want more power: 560ti: http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11830BD9294&vpn=GV-N560OC-1GI&manfuacture=GIGABYTE 6950: http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=64182&vpn=R6950 Twin Frozr III 1G/OC&manufacture=MSI/MicroStar Thanks much for the help. According to CPU-Z, I have a FOXCONN 2AB1 mobo. My fps drops to about 30ish when streaming SC2, I'm basically just looking to up that as I don't mind at all playing on lower settings. Would updating the graphics card / power supply be of any benefit to that? Should I just look to try a new processor (if you can even replace processors? I don't really know) or would it attempting to overclock the phenom give a big enough preformance boost? Again, thanks, you're a champ.

You have 2 options: Get a CPU cooler for 25 to 75$ and OC your CPU which will slightly improve fps Get a new CPU and motherboard (I think you should have DDR3 ram so no need for new ram) which will vary in prices and the performance you get. also, I'm not familiar with streaming, but you could possibly be tasking your CPU harder by the options u have selected. I think u need to ask yourself if there is a minimum acceptable fps that u need.

Furthermore, upgrading power supplies in these kinds of systems can be something of a chore. Updating the graphics card won't help if your fps while streaming is less than your fps without streaming. Regardless, even say a $80 upgrade on graphics will make a big improvement in many games. I'd seriously consider just getting an HD 6670 to replace the HD 5450, since it should handle most games on medium better than the HD 5450 handles them on low. Well, it depends on the difference in those settings in games; anyway the 6670 is just a lot better. This should be okay without upgrading the power supply. http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=60741 You can try reducing stream quality like lowering stream output fps, lowering stream output resolution, and choosing a faster encoding profile, which will reduce the load on the CPU. This is probably the most important thing. If you really wanted, you could upgrade the CPU to a Phenom II X6 1065T without changing the motherboard, but that won't be a huge huge improvement. If you want to spend $350 or so, you can get an i5-2500k and P67/Z68 motherboard and an aftermarket cooler, but I'd be a little hesitant to do all of that. A better power supply would be a bit preferred to do substantial CPU overclocking. For gaming + streaming, a non-overclocked Core i5 isn't really going to be much better than just a Phenom II X6 anyway, so the middle ground solution of taking say $250 on a lower Core i5 and cheaper socket 1155 motherboard isn't desirable either. Also switching motherboards means you probably need to reinstall Windows so you don't end up with having all kinds of wrong drivers and missing drivers, and reinstalling is probably even more not worth the time...

I'm buying a new PC and decided to turn to TL as I have no idea about computer hardware. I read the OP and compiled a build, hopefully as competently as I could have done. If anyone is willing to give it a quick review I would be forever grateful! CPU - Intel Core i5-2300 Box, LGA1155 Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-P67-DS3-B3, Intel P67, ATX RAM - 6GB-Triple-Kit Corsair TR3X6G1333C9 DDR3, CL9 GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 460 - 1GB, PCI-Express PSU - Thermaltake Hamburg 530W Case - 3R Systems Design Gehäuse R490 Schwarz HDD - Hitachi DESKSTAR 7K1000.C 500GB, 16MB, SATA II, 8,9cm (3,5"), 7200rpm Links to the mentioned parts: + Show Spoiler + CPU - http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=41227&agid=1617 Motherboard - http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=48245&agid=1601 RAM - http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=24063&agid=1192 GPU - http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=38244&agid=707 PSU - http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=47378&agid=1628 Case - http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=49124&agid=631 HDD - http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=30390&agid=689 And the OP questionaire: + Show Spoiler + What is your budget? 600 euro. I wouldn't mind spending a bit more if it makes any sort of considerable difference. The current build is 580 euro. What is your resolution? 1920x1080 What are you using it for? Mainly gaming, high-end gaming if it's achievable with the budget. What is your upgrade cycle? About 2.5 - 3 years. When do you plan on building it? Now. Do you plan on overclocking? No. Do you need an Operating System? No. Where are you buying your parts from? I was planning on using komplett.ie as I've used a few times before but the stock variety seems to be extremely poor recently so I'm going with hardwareversand.de. Much appreciated! Thank you.

Other than that it looks okay. You'll be able to run all games currently out, though you'll have to compromise on quality settings for the more high-end ones.

I replaced the ram with 8GB-Kit G.Skill RipJaws-X PC3-10667U CL9, http://www2.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=44319&agid=1192. I can't find a motherboard cheaper by more than a few euro on hardwareversand.de so I suppose it's all right.

http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=50576&agid=631 for the case and http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=50852&agid=1626 This power supply. A lower-end PSU would do fine but I think it's okay to pay 14 euros for the silence and efficiency of this one and you'll be able to make most of it back with energy bills anyway. That graphics card is overpriced for what it offers, if you don't mind AMD I'd go with this: http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=39510&agid=1004 Or this if you like Nvidia: http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=54406&agid=707

Still as the components are poorly chosen I think it bloats the price a bit. If it had a golden green 450 and a 7970 and haf 912 and only 8gb of ram and a good mobo and a silver arrow and it had similiar profit margins it'd be a good buy

Similarly, a tower heatsink/fan should perform as well or better than the Corsair H80 and be somewhat cheaper. Same with mother board, case, etc. So you could shave some money off the price with different component selection and get a computer that works just as well for your purposes. On the other hand, strong computer there - if you were worried about performance, rather than the price you're paying for it, the component selection is fine.
