500 euro for a setup that can run games at 1080p "well" should be doable.
What is meant by "shuttle barebone case?"

Or are we just basically looking at a small ITX computer case. I suggested a mini computer awhile ago to some other guy. He said he was gonna build it. Wonder how that turned out. I asked TL to proofread my work and no one really responded with a nay so i guess it works on paper.

Hey Medrea, thanks again for the suggestions for a mini-itx build. I've decided to try out this case that you suggested http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811153127 I'm going to be building them with these: A6-3500 Tri-Core APU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103951 FM1 socket Mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103951 I picked this APU because it has integrated HD 6530D, so I probably won't be needing a video card and is only 65W TDP. I probably won't be putting this together for a few more weeks. Now I didnt actually suggest any of those parts except for the Foxconn case. I paired it up with integrated HD3000 graphics from an i3 Sandy Bridge... cant remember exactly which one. I think it was 2105. No idea really, 150W PSU doesnt exactly have much ability to run any game at 1080p "well". My most serious suggestion was taking a more normal mini ITX case that was slightly bigger but with a much better PSU. I have to admit Im looking at building a mini PC for my bathroom or living room.....or both at the same time (they are adjacent, I could knock a hole in the wall and have two connections, one to bathroom and one to living room), for Diablo 3.

If it is a hand-me-down then it is likely that it needs a good dusting with a can of air, or repair.

Again, pardon me if I'm oversimplifying, but I am hardware retarded. Thanks ![]() Semen + Graphics cards do not mix. Try to clean it out as best you can with a slightly damp cloth, the semen may also be inside near the fan bearings slowing it down. Have you tried a more aggressive fan profile? But really people, please don't expect electrical equipment to function properly after being coated with bodily fluids... ![]()

If you're gaming, 70+ might be considered reasonably hot, but it depends on a few factors. If you haven't cleaned it with canned air recently (few months), blowing out the fan would be a good idea. I shaved 10+C off my laptop doing that. Heck, it's probably a good idea to do regardless of your temps if it hasn't been done for a while

My girlfriend just didn't cut it anymore, and I decided my friends' graphics card would do the trick for me. Your post was so helpful that I can no longer help myself, and it is time for round two.

Thinking about this as well (but uh, just in the living room). Trying to decide between super silent, but have somewhat crappy gaming quality. Or just balls out power, but super noisy. What decent graphics card would be a good balance between silent and can power a 50" tv with some settings somewhat cranked up (AA)?

e.g. http://www.silentpcreview.com/fanless-psu-build-guide though few are really going to use an aftermarket GPU heatsink or go actually for 18 dBA @ 1m under load. That's just an example. There's a fanless HD 6850 model by PowerColor, for those so inclined. I don't really think an A8-3850 (A8-3870K) is completely up to the task for decent framerates at 1080p in many newer games at reasonable settings, but that's the best bet for the Shuttle-sized builds. You'd really need a power supply that can handle say 150W continuously though, and many smaller case models don't come with such parts. PicoPSU is an option I guess.
