Superflower isn't that widely available in America and the ones that do use superflower aren't that popular. NZXT, Rosewill, Kingwin, ...

I know this isn't fully related to computer builds but I didn't want to create a new thread for this minor matter. If I have a Corsair H60, is it normal for the CPU to go to 70C under load? I overclocked a bit (1,475v and 4ghz) but it seems a bit high, the AMD 955 BE apparently has a high recommendation for 62C. Could I have seated it badly?

Ya that's a bit high.
Yes the Samsunng 830 is a good choice.

i would say the SSD is "alright" i think Crucial m4 is where it is at though. I guess I will defer to SkyR about it then.
And yeah thats the one, so many of us are using it as well. You can probably find a better deal than $30 for that heatsink though, however even at $30 it isnt a bad buy at all.

Historically Samsung's track record has been a little bit better and currently there's an outstanding reboot bug that's confirmed by Crucial for the M4. A fix (requiring a firmware update of course) is in the works; like the Intel 320 8MB issue, it doesn't seem like a very widespread issue, and unlike the 8MB issue, all your data is still fine so I don't think it's as serious an issue as other controllers/firmwares have had.

Regardless, I'd take the Samsung 830 if they were the same price or close. Performance should be slightly higher overall as well, though that's really not an important issue as they're both quite solid and way better than mechanical storage any day of the week. Currently they're the same price on newegg. (Usually the M4 is cheaper, and in those situations I'd recommend that.)

From what I've heard of the Crucial M4 bug, it affects most if not all drives... after exactly 5200 hours of use. (Ok, I can't remember the exact hour number). Which means a firmware bug should be out in time for most people who bought one. At least, one would hope.
|
I think the point was that it doesn't affect the majority of users since the M4 is recent and 5000 hours is slightly more than half a year of continuous usage.

Pftt, sure, eloquentify what I said.

Hey, does anyone have any suggestions for cases that look cool in a sleek, lighter, more audi than knight-rider look? I want to get away from the big black hulking jagged boxy cases that a lot of my friends have. I have recently been oggling the Corsair 600T white, but it's a little outside my price range at £120. But consider it as my ideal case. Obviously I need it to be a decent case (atm mainly looking at mid-size cases, I don't have a long form-factor gfx card, nor do I expect to do any major OCing or water cooling or anything so I don't need anyhting bleeding edge) Budget of about £80 probably, but cheaper is better. Will buy from anywhere that ships to the UK (scan, overclockers, ebuyer etc).
For example out of this top of 2011 rundown that I found with a quick google, I especially dislike the looks of the Dark Fleet, the Lanboy Air and HAF x, I like the looks of the scorpio and the colossus venom. V6 black ed isn't bad. The others are neither here nor there imo.
I feel not enough weight is given to the aesthetics in a score, probably a lot because it's so subjective, in a lot of discussion, so can't find any decent resources on cases that look awesome.
Can anyone help?

Probably Fractal Design Define R3. Oh, Bitfenix Shinobi is also super nice.
Anything Lian Li and Silverstone also fit the bill but they'll going to be out of your budget.

Couple questions I've built my computer, installed windows 7. I was wondering if I'm using a asus h61m-LE + i52400+ a coolermaster 212+ with 8 gb ram+ hd radeon 6870 in a coolermaster elite 430 case (so only 1 fan besides the aftermarket heatsink) what temperatures should i be expecting for the cores?
Right now on start up I'm getting about 25-27 on the 4 cores, high 50s when i ran under intel burn test (10 loads) at maximum and 30 after having it on a while. Is that ok? Fan speed on the coolermaster i think is 900 rpm atm. CPUtin is at 90 C according to hwmonitor, but I heard that isn't very accurate?)
My graphics card tops out at around 60-70C. (when i ran unique heaven benchmark at high)
Are those temperatures ok? Or did I mess up on installing the heat sink/ need to add another fan(my friend has an extra 140 mm fan, but I don't think that fits my case) Also, is there anyway I can enter the motherboard bios using my dedicated graphics card? It doesn't seem to let me do so Thanks for the help.

Those temps are okay.
You enter motherboard BIOS by pressing whatever button it tells you to press. Doesn't matter whether you're using the IGP, 6870, or have no display at all.

Yeah all thats fine. You didnt even need the hyper 212+ because you arent even overclocking,

ah ok, it doesn't seem to be working to enter the bios hence I asked Those temps are about what I should be expecting with an aftermarket heat sink? I wasn't sure since ppl were reporting those with the stock fan. Is the CPUtin just a glitch due to hwmonitor? I got the aftermarket heat sink as I was originally gonna get a 2500k, but changed my mind Thanks again

ah ok- thanks again Turns out I wrote wrong temps the first time it avgs 27- 30 at idle on the 4 cores. That should still be ok? And should i have the fan of the coolermaster 212+ pointing toward the back of the case or toward the front. My lone other fan is at the front of the case.
Thanks again. Sorry for asking so many questions.(that are probably kind of dumb). Very paranoid as this is the first computer I've built

Idle depends on ambient so it doesn't really matter what they sit at. Your load temperatures are fine, you don't need to start worrying until you approach 80.
fan should be situated at the front of the case, blowing air through the heatsink.
|
ah ok- thanks very much. Does that mean if I put my hand to the right of the fan, I shouldn't feel air? Or does the fan blow in both directions. How my setup is atm back of case - heat sink- fan.

The heatsink fan blows into the heatsink. On the other side of the heatsink should be the side of your case, not the drives.
So yes just as you are describing, you did it right.
And yeah a fan cooler isnt going to drop the temps of your CPU underneath ambient, you would need a phase change liquid cooler for that.
