In europe they have taxes included so they balance it quite a bit, tax is 19-23% depending on country

European pricing: 750W is under 150% the price of 450W. US pricing: 750W is 200% the price of 450W. Even between 550W and 750W in general...the 750W in the same series is rarely priced at 150% This makes some sense, since the cost it takes to make (and ship) the higher-wattage models is not that much higher at all. Profit margins are higher on the highest-end model of a series, even with compressed pricing.

If it works fine within games, then I doubt its actually sluggish doing desktop tasks. Perhaps you expected more from a Phenom II X6 upgrade? Edit: One thing you can check is whether or not turbo core is enabled within the BIOS...this should help you out doing desktop tasks. Another thing you can try is changing your theme to something that isn't Windows 7 Basic. Judging by the task bar colour and the icon sizes, you're currently using this theme and frankly it feels like shit.

I'm trying to get the cheapest, but good hardware. Basically best bang for your buck deal. Not sure the parts I list fit into that category, but I would like to know your suggestions. Intel Core i3-2100 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115078 GIGABYTE GA-H61M-DS2 http://www.newegg.com/Product /Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128527 G.SKILL NS 4GB (2 x 2GB) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231396 XFX HD-567X-ZNF3 Radeon HD 5670 1GB 128-bit DDR5***** http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150467 LG 22X Super-Multi DVD Burner http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136240 LIAN LI PC-Q08B http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112265 Acer V173DJB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824114018 *****The 5670 is discontinued so my option is eBay, unless there is a cheaper option that does bare minimum for this particular setup. If I could do better on any of these items, let me know. Again, cheap but effective is the theme for this project. I'm also not too sure on which PSU to buy. Ideally, the smaller the ITX, the better. But I want to know which PSU would combo great with the smaller cases in terms of airflow, and also if I need additional fans for cooling. I'm also on the market for a HD--2TB preferably.

If you aren't going to play games on it, I'm fairly sure you don't need a discrete GPU. The Intel HD2000/HD3000 isn't half bad to be frankly honest. Does your streaming software support Intel's QuickSync? I dunno but it could ultimately determine processor/motherboard choices. I think a good case/PSU option would be a Silverstone SG05. You honestly don't need more than a decent 300W PSU since you aren't putting a very powerful GPU into this machine. You don't need a lot of airflow either due to the extremely low power draw of the processor. The main problem with the case is that it can't really handle full sized 3.5" hard drives but I don't think using laptop hard drives is honestly a problem.

Sorry i didnt read this thread earlier. You need to update your BIOS. It is relatively simple and TL can walk you through it. Sometimes professionals like to charge an arm and a leg for this kind of thing. For future reference, this is pretty much the one and ONLY time one should reflash there BIOS. If you come across almost any other problem and someone tells you to update BIOS, ignore them.
