Could you please give me some feedback on this build? Looking for something I can use for good while, play D3 and SC2 nicely, and be able to handle newer games decently.

Mainly will I notice a difference between i5 2500 vs 2500k? Or 520W psu vs 500W modular? Or which case would you suggest? Appreciate it.

Considering the components, its not really overpriced for a prebuilt.

GTX 560 Ti 2GB isn't a good choice. Switch to 1GB variant.

I knew that. Whoops. Easy mistake, though im sure Taiwan appreciates the distinction, between being under water and not under water of course.

Asrock Z68 Extreme3 for $125: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271

Did you already purchase a core i5 2500? Because that's a poor decision if you are doing a SLI configuration -.-

Huh? It's very hard to give advice without knowing the entire configuration or list of components you plan on purchasing.

A core i5 2500k is basically the same price as a core i5 2500 at $200: http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=57962&promoid=1055 There is no reason to be doing a SLI if you aren't overclocking since most (if not all) the SLI capable motherboards are P67 or Z68 motherboards.

Unfortunately it is out of stock but it's to be expected with all the good deals since Cyber Monday is coming to an end.

As you have a P67 motherboard that allows overclock, you can have a look at i5 2500k. The price is often almost the same.
For the GPU, depending on what you want to spend, you have the choice between HD 6870, HD 6950,GTX 560Ti or GTX 570.
Have a look at some benchmarks to find what will fit your needs.

ok i switched to 2500k, should i be looking into a new HSF or just wait until the builds finished and see how it runs oc'd?

You should build with an aftermarket heatsink since you mentioned you have an Antec Three Hundred. I'm not sure how new yours is but the older ones did not have a cutout so you would be required to remove the motherboard in order to install most aftermarket heatsinks (which will be a pain in the ass).

Hey all, upgrading my PC for Christmas, this is what I have been looking at so far. My budget is 400$ US. I have a case and power supply so I am looking to upgrade my "core" components first. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

CPU:
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Thuban 3.3GHz, 3.7GHz Turbo Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDE00ZFBGRBOX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103913

GPU: 1680x1050 Resolution

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127510

Motherboard: Foxconn A88GMV AM3 AMD 880G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186205

I worry about the Micro motherboard but I have bought Foxconn before and I loved it. Also, any suggestions on memory?

Very poor choices.

A Radeon HD6870 can be had for about the same price or even less and will outperform a GTX 460.

A core i5 2500 can be had for about the same price and a H61 motherboard can also be had for about the same price. A core i5 2500 will destroy a Phenom II X6 in gaming.

Thanks, back to the drawing board

How does this look?

Question, will PCI 2.1 conflict with the motherboard?

Thanks

Yeah that looks much better.

PCI Express is backwards and forwards compatible. Every modern graphics card should work with any modern motherboard with a full-length PCI Express slot (almost everything you can buy), with a few rare exceptions.

But otherwise that's really nice

Is this a good motherboard for my i5 2500k? It seems like a good deal, but if it's a bad board I'll pass.

If it is bad, can you suggest a better board sub $100, preferably crossfire compatible?

Right. I want to add that the exception lies with PCI-e 2.1

Some cards are 2.1, these are incompatible with PCI-e 1.0 slots. they are compatible with 2.0 slots and I think 3.0 as well.

For instance, the 5770. Sapphire 5770's are 2.1 compliant afaik, and MSI variants are 2.0 (tested and confirmed). My Sapphire 5830 is 2.1, and will not work in my PCI-e 1.0 motherboard at all.

This is a very rare occurence since 1.0 motherboards have been phased out for quite awhile. There may be other exceptions but I have not run into them myself.
