Isn't that if you open up a credit card with them or something?

78 is quite fine 70-80c is where the card normally runs higher then that and it may be dust or case causing slightly higher temps but until it's like 85c i wouldn't worry too much.

I am looking for a High-end (but not ridiculously powerful) PC that is fully capable of playing StarCraft 2 AND record AND run audio programs AND browsers AND stream (basically what Day[9] does). I should probably add that I will only use Two monitors, and one will probably be very small. Plus I will be using some simple headphones, not an amazingly epic surround sound system.

RAM (I haven't found any, here are my specifications)
+ Show Spoiler +
Please reply with a link if anyone knows RAM that fits these standards:
8GB
1600+ MHz
DDR3
CAS Latency of 7 or less.

If so please find the cheapest model that fits those standards and the cheapest seller. Or just tell me the model and I'll find the cheapest seller myself. And, if I am being stupid and I don't need RAM that good, then tell me so.

CPU (Found one!)
+ Show Spoiler +
I found a CPU that I think will work (and perhaps kick ass too much. Here it is:

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Thuban 3.3GHz, 3.7GHz Turbo Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDE00ZFBGRBOX

Is that good enough? Too good? Feedback please.

That's all I'm looking for at the moment. Thanks!

Higher memory speeds and tighter timings makes a negligible difference so the smarter thing to do would be to spend the money that you would pay for a 1600mhz cas7 kit on something else such as a better GPU or CPU. You just want a 1333MHz or 1600MHz cas9 kit, whichever is less expensive.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4503/sandy-bridge-memory-scaling-choosing-the-best-ddr3
http://techreport.com/articles.x/20377

The second generation Phenom processors suck. They're basically five years old in terms of aperformance sense.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i7-2600k-990x.html

You would want a core i5 2500k or core i7 2600k if you are going to be overclocking. If not, just the standard 2500 or 2600 without the K suffix.

I'm going with this for RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145346

And I think I'll go with i5 2500k for a processor. But, if the second generation Phenom processors are so bad, then why did the one I looked at get so many good reviews on amazon? Is amazon just bad for reviews?

Why are you basing purchasing decisions off reviews off Amazon or any e-tailer...? All e-tailer reviews are bad because not every consumer who purchases the product reviews it or have any technical knowledge at all.

The second generation Phenoms were released three years ago and occupied a price point that Intel did not really compete in... They were a decent choice back than for a budget build but currently Intel dominates every price point except for maybe the sub $70 market.

If you aren't going balls to the wall on other stuff, then buying a higher end RAM kit is completely ludicrous. The difference is so tiny that the money is invariably better spent elsewhere for performance, unless you're going crazy high end everything already.

And dual channel is better than single channel.

Hello I have heard nothing but good things from this forum, so I would love for input and help on building a budget gaming PC. I don't play anything to hard on graphics. Normally just HoN, TF2, SC2 and similar games.

+ Show Spoiler +

What is your budget?
I want to spend around $600. Of course cheaper if its possible

What is your resolution?
Normally 1280x1024.

What are you using it for?
Mostly casual gaming. And normal computing needs.

What is your upgrade cycle?
I don't want to upgrade for at least 2 years.

When do you plan on building it?
ASAP or within the next 2 months.

Do you plan on overclocking?
I have no experience with it but if it helps the cost then i can learn.

Do you need a OS?
Nope.

Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or crossfire?
No probably not.

Where are you buying components from?
Most likely newegg but if you have a better deal somewhere else im more than happy to use it.

Ok that should cover all the questions. I hope that this is possible with my budget. Having forums like this make the internet a much better place.

Also I live in Hawaii so I dont know if that will effect the shipping.

I'm looking to buy a premade or custom pc, but i don't know where to start. I know everyone's going to tell me to build my own except I'm confident I would mess something up somewhere along the lines. Are there any affordable places to buy prebuilt or custom pc's?

I built my first computer this summer and had absolutely no experience. If I were you I'd go ahead and build your own. It took me a total of 2 hours to put it together once all the parts were here, and that was because I was being extra careful since it was my first time. It's quite simple. You basically just screw the motherboard into the case, and then plug labeled wires into their corresponding slots.
The hardest part is choosing which parts to buy, and the people here are awesome about helping out with that.

Did you play with legos or k'nex as a kid? If so, you can build your own. Even if you didn't, there's still hope. Check out this video to see if it's something you would like to do:

However, if you're absolutely sure you cannot possibly build one, you can pick out pieces on ncixus.com and have them assemble it for $50. Their pricing is a little worse than other US e-tailors though.

Yes, the 6850 uses less than 100w under load and both the core i3 2100 and core i5 2400 uses less than 50w under load.

GTS 450 if there's one available for $80-100 is fairly well between the two. Or 5770/6770 is roughly equivalent (slightly better), if that's cheaper.
