What I've come up with so far: Link (Dutch site) CPU: i5 2500 MB: Gigabyte GA-PH67-UD3-B3 (rev 1.1) RAM: HyperX 2x2GB 1600MHz, CL9 GPU: MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC (doubtful) PSU: Seasonic S12II-380 HDD: 2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB Cooler: Mugen 2 rev B Case: Antec One Hundred What I want it to do: Able to run games like Assassin's Creed on high settings with decent FPS (1680x1050 monitor) Streaming with decent quality. Doesn't have to be top notch but you should be able to see what I'm doing. Decent video-editing and 3D rendering potential. Why I post here: I don't know enough details about parts to make the best decision about what to buy. I'm the most doubtful about the GPU (whether it's overkill or not) and the PSU (whether it'll deliver enough). Hoping for some helpful and insightful comments. Thanks ![]()

The Seasonic S12II 380 would provide enough power for your configuration but Seasonic power supplies are often overpriced. The XFX Core Edition Pro 450w is less expensive and provides more power, it is also manufactured by Seasonic: http://azerty.nl/0-1073-398442/xfx-core-edition-pro450w-voe.html There's a very small difference between 1333MHz and 1600MHz memory as seen in these two articles: http://techreport.com/articles.x/20377/3 and http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i5-2500-2400-2300.html So you just want one of the least expensive 2x2GB kits available. For editing, you may want a 2x4GB kit. My understanding of Dutch is limited so I can't really navigate the website that well.

So apparently according to a friend the non-reference 560 ti such as the twin frozr you listed can hit 1 ghz without any overheating problems. Meaning you can hit stock 570 performance If you were to upgrade with nvidia the only one worth buying would be the Asus GTX 570 DirectCUii which has 8 phases instead of the the reference 4. Apparently other 570 overheated and theres pics out there of dead VRMs at stock speeds (lol). After OC you can beat stock 580 speeds. Anyways just noticed you're running 1680x1050 so NP lol

You also don't need an aftermarket CPU cooler since the i5-2500 ships with one and you can't overclock the CPU on the PH67-UD3 anyway. I suggest getting a cheaper motherboard, removing the Mugen 2, and then getting 8GB of RAM (important for video editing/rendering). edit: if you wanted to overclock, get the i5-2500k instead and a P67 or Z68 motherboard. Keep the Mugen 2 in that case. Kingston 2 x 4GB DDR3 RAM - €52,93 http://azerty.nl/8-749-230178/kingston-valueram-geheugen-.html AsRock H61M/U3S3 - € 59,67 http://azerty.nl/8-2528-395700/asrock-h61m-u3s3-moederbord-.html

Seems like a good build, but I'd go for a Mugen 2 rev b instead of the xigmatek, if you can get it at a decent price.(30ish euro or lower)

I'm indeed not interested in overclocking but I do like getting a different cooler because I have a tendency to somehow get components to blow up. Would you advice the boxed cooler or a cheaper one than the Mugen?

The Intel provided heatsink is adequate for non-overclockers. An aftermarket heatsink is only needed if you will be overclocking or you are concerned about noise. Or if your ambient temps are shit.

![]() I went on and found a build (cost ~1200) which i think is a good one (he works in eletronical engineering on very high detailed stuff, 2500*1600, etc ...), also it shoud last for like ... 3-4 years if possible, and be able to play without any problem any new game on max (yeah yeah, my father's even more in gaming then i am ... and that's not easy ... :p) so here it is : core i7-2600k http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115070 CORSAIR CAFA50 120 mm cpu cooler http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181012 Seagate 1TB 7200RPM 32MB hard drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148697 GSKILL 8GB DDR3 1333 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231311 ASRock P67 EXTREME4 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157229 CORSAIR TX750 V2 750W ATX12V http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139021 HIS IceQ Turbo H697QT2G2M Radeon HD 6970 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 i've a doubt about this one, i don't know HIS so if someone coudl tell me if they're good or not ... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161382 Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042 also as i don't know that much about computer assembly and all ... i'd like to know wheter a sound card was needed or if it was included in the motherboard ? From what i understood i only need these parts to make a complete computer but i can be mistaking :p

Motherboards come with audio input/output jacks handled by an onboard audio chip. That's generally sufficient unless you're looking for high-fidelity sound or hardware DSP features.

You need an operating system as well along with a DVD burner unless you already have those two components covered. Why select an expensive HIS that seems to offer nothing over the less expensive and argubly better MSI and Gigabyte variants?

And concerning the crossfire i was wondering if like 2 HD6870 would not be better then 1 HD6970? That's actually why i had that motherboard in the first place but then forgot about it :p and yeah i forgot the DVD burner also, but i already have the OS

Overclocking can be useful, depends on what exactly he needs to be able to do with the computer.
