So im pretty sure i havent made sense so il restart. I can get a windows 7 UPGRADE for £30 which means i can meet my budget. I have xp on my current hardrive, but it is not big enough and i want to install my 1TB one that i have ordered. I was wandering if there was a way that i could build with my old computer and load up with my current xp system that is loaded on, so that i could then get my windows 7 upgrade. As far as i am aware, when you install windows 7 you are given the option to delete your current memory (which i want) and end up with windows7. At this point i would then install all my drivers. Would this work? Thanks There is a way to use a W7 upgrade key and just do a fresh install using the upgrade DVD on a brand new system, with no prior OS. I just did it today, do a bit of googling and you'll find it .

Granted, the machine should be powerful enough not to give the game any problems, but it might be in the overkill range, even not considering the RAM. A computer with an i5-760 and GTX 460 instead would also be powerful enough, at it would cost a couple/few hundred dollars less too. A graphics card like the HD 5850, GTX 470, or something in that range between the HD 5870 and GTX 460 would suffice too. Check that review link that's floating around. To connect to your TV, you would just run an HDMI cable from the graphics card to the TV. Maybe you could use DVI, VGA, or DisplayPort, depending on what the TV and your card support, but HDMI is the most common solution and makes sense. How are you planning on getting audio? WARNING: big HDTVs usually lag very bad! Usually the TV will enhance and process the image in various ways, which takes time. You may or may not be able to disable all of those features. The end result is that there will be a noticeable delay between when it gets an image and when it displays that image. In other words, when you move your mouse or anything moves on screen, it might take 100 ms (or more? or less...it depends on the TV) before you see that action on the TV. Everything is behind, which makes games very frustrating to play.

I just did it today, do a bit of googling and you'll find it .Yeah, the problem is i can only get windows 7 by an email download link. This is because i will be using the student offer they have. Apparantly i have to open the email and click the link to get the download and key, ie i dont get the disk (as far as i am aware) As such i was wandering if i could use my current harddrive to load up in windows xp, install all the drivers and the 1TB harddrives, Then download windows7 (or download windows 7 then install drivers) Has anyone had any experience doing anything like this, or have any idea if it will work? Edit: ive just been told that doing this might work but it would boot up with the wrong drivers, so i shouldnt do it. Does this sound right?

You must look at specific models of motherboards to compare them in terms of functionality, overclocking support, etc... As for the GPUs, MSI and EVGA don't actually make GPUs, those are designed by ATI/nVidia and produced at fabs such as TSMC. Usually MSI and EVGA take manufactured GPUs and incorporate them into Graphics Cards that usually follow a reference design also from ATI/nVidia. (EVGA only makes nVidia-based Graphics Cards) Since most manufacturers -including EVGA and MSI follow reference designs, there's not going to be much difference between the cards.

I'm assuming that you are referring the ISO file. An ISO file is an image file that can be used to burn onto a DVD/CD media. There are various other uses. The Windows 7 ISO file is not big at all, I burned the whole thing onto a standard single layer 4.6GB DVD. From memory, a student Windows 7 from it's not cheating do not give you an option to get ISO by default, you need to google the link. Once you have the ISO, burn it on to a DVD then boot into Optical drive and install it from there, put the key that Microsoft give you when you are done.

I'll still need a cheap, nice monitor to throw into that as well.

Samsung Spinpoint F3 500 GB ATI HD 5670 Antec 300 case and Earthwatts 380D PSU 4gb DDR3 RAM Athlon II X3, 3.0 GHz AM3 mobo with USB3 and Sata 6 Gb/s That should be under $500 before shipping, without a monitor. I think with such a long upgrade cycle, you might as well get USB3 support. edit: warning - no second GPU possible, but that's too much to expect for this price range
