Required efficiency at 20%, 50%, and 100%: 80 plus - 80 80 80 Even a 10% change in efficiency wouldn't change your power bill much, and that's the only direct benefit of higher efficiency. Higher efficiency means that less heat is generated by the PSU, so there is less heat to expel. Some high-efficiency PSUs take advantage of that by using lower-airflow, quieter fans or less aggressive fans speeds for less noise, but this isn't always true. There are a lot of mediocre to bad power supplies that are 80 plus bronze, 80 plus gold, etc. because they simply focused on high efficiency and cut corners on power output quality, build quality, and internal components.

I just built my system last week, and with 4gigs of ram I can stream 4v4's on highest in game settings with 720p/25fps. Of course the day before my parts came I developed some carpal issues so I can't even play... For future reference, could you elaborate on the i5-2500k clockspeed (did you overclock it? how much?), codec used, streaming program used, bitrate, quality settings, game fps, etc.? Thanks. Sorry to hear about the wrist.

Thanks. Sorry to hear about the wrist. Will edit in more details once I am home from work, and I will see if the same performance comes from a stock clockspeed: i5-2500k overclocked to 4.2k. xsplit -> justin tv. quality is set at 7 or 8. Using a 4?meg bitrate. I haven't yet pushed any limits with the OC or streaming, just punched in some numbers and they worked. http://www.justin.tv/xdthreat/b/286481815 example of quality if you can judge from the VOD. My work computer can't handle watching it lol. Discalimer : Trying to get adjusted to new mouse/keyboard/monitor/desk setup with a hand in a splint.

Still waiting on money to transfer to my paypal account. One of my teachers said I'd need at least a 500watt psu for this build. True? I was going with the evergreen 380watt. (any difference if I were to ever overclock?)

I'm changing the PSU to everwatt green 380watt, though, since this one is out of stock. I was told that was fine. However, the ram must be purchased as a combo, so I switched it with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277. That alright? Thanks.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233082 Just to make sure the earlier comment about the PSU was a typo, you're looking for the Antec Earthwatts Green EA-380D ($40): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371033
