@skyR
Thank you so much! I'm going to order the parts tonight. So you seem like a quality poster and take your word =)
For future reference, how do you know whether a part is compatible or not?
Thank you!

Any motherboard with a PCI-E x16 slot will accept any modern graphics card today (since they all use PCI-E x16).
The majority of cases you buy on Newegg will have room for graphic cards under 10 inches long. The 6850 is around 9 inches long so this shouldn't be a problem with a Coolermaster case.
You match processor socket with motherboard socket (LGA 1155 processor = LGA 1155 motherboard only, etc).
All modern motherboards accept only DDR3. DDR2 and DDR3 aren't interchangeable.
Harddrives and DVD Drives all use SATA. All modern motherboards come with at least two SATA ports. Your motherboard will include the SATA cables used to connect these drives.
Most quality power supplies (XFX, Antec, Corsair, Seasonic, etc) will all have the necessary connectors. And the XFX 450w provides more than enough power for your current configuration and provides you headroom to upgrade to a stronger graphics card in the future.

Considering the ASRock Extreme4 is only $150, and the EA 650 is only $15 more than the XFX 450W it really doesn't cost anything to prepare for crossfire anymore. 6950s scale ridiculously well, 85%+ in most games and most of the problems with crossfire have been ironed out.

Case is personal preference so you can pick any case that suits your tastes. Yes the components will fit.

Is samsung's spinpoint f3 better than wd's caviar black?

In general the Spinpoint F3 is cheaper per GB and has higher sequential speeds, lower random access speeds, and a shorter warranty (3 years vs. 5 years).
We're talking about fairly minor differences though.

So they're practically the same, right? I'll be well off with either one I assume.

I'm building a new pc and my friend has offered to buy my old one, just looking for some advice on what a fair price is for both of us.
CPU: phenom II x4 965be @ 4.0ghz mobo: ASRock 890GX-Extreme3 890G (has usb3 sata/esata 3, supports xfire and sli @8x/8x) ram: 2x 4gb ripjaws @ 1600mhz gfx: msi gtx 560ti twinfrozr II psu: corsair tx 650w case: modded antec 300 with 3x 120mm front LED fans + 1x 120mm side LED fan. HDD: 2x 500gb WD green. 1x 250gb WD black cooling: CM hyper 212+ optical: LG Dvd burner

I'd say $550 without windows, $600 with would be fair enough.
EDIT: Oh if you're in Australia then bump up the prices a bit, stuff is more expensive there.

Yeh, I'd say a 15-20% mark-up.

Hello! I would like advice from some people who know what they're doing, so I have this consumer-grade Compaq desktop that I stuck an 1 GB HD 4670 in and I was wondering what I can do so that I can play it at maximum? Should I upgrade my processor and which one should I get?
Here are my specs: Play at 1280x1024 AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 215 Processor 2.7 GHz 3.0 GB RAM Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition (build 7600), 64-bit
I don't have much to spend sadly, but I would like to play on that much higher settings.
Thanks a lot!

Can this stream over 40 FPS on Medium? Can it run High over 40 fps?
i5 2400 Sandy Bridge(no OC) 4 GB DDR3 Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit ATI 5850 Overclocked
I play at 1680 x 1050 right now, idk how good and what I prefer later on, since I cannot test it out as my 5670 limits it to that only. Question: Why do some people suggest like a 450 watt PSU for a 5850 when it clearly says 500 watt requirement?
|
@Pokedude1013:
For consistent good fps at those settings, you'll need a CPU upgrade (unfortunately requiring a new motherboard) and a GPU upgrade (which your current power supply probably won't be able to handle).
So CPU + motherboard + GPU + power supply (probably).
How much money do you have to spend? If you could provide more information about the power supply, like anything it says on the label about max wattages and currents, that would be good too.
edit: Well, if you're just looking for higher graphics settings, and particularly just higher shaders settings, you just need a GPU upgrade. An Athlon II X2 is still going to be an issue in larger fights, particularly large multiplayer fights.
@iTzAnglory:
Over 40 fps shouldn't be a problem even on ultra, even while streaming (with reasonable stream settings), unless you have some screen resolution larger than 1920x1200.
