EDIT: Looks like that's the case. The MSi version is 275 mm. I'll go with that one.

No. If you purchase separately, they're be the same price. If you wait until the motherboards are rereleased, you'll be able to find some combo deals with the CPU and motherboard.

800€-1000€ What is your resolution? 1920x1200 What are you using it for? Gaming, streaming, UDK compiling, high-resolution Photoshop work, 3DsMax. What is your upgrade cycle? I usually upgrades my righ every 3-4 years or so. When do you plan on building it? This month or maybe the next. Do you plan on overclocking? I would like the rig to perform well without the need to overclock, as I'm not that much into that. Do you need an Operating System? No. Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? No. Where are you buying your parts from? I live in Sweden, and I looking at Komplett.se and inet.se for parts. Also, I do have a Corsair 550w PSU that I'm planning on using from my current setup (if it's possible, that is). I'm also planning on using my old computercase and fans, so no need to worry about those. From my experience, 4gb of RAM is a bit on the short-end given what I'm using my computer for (3DsMax, UDK and Photoshop), so if it's possible to squeeze in 8GB in there without to much sacrifice on the other areas, that would be great. So basically, I'm looking for the best compatible setup of Motherboard, CPU, RAM and GPU, together with like an 1TB HDD. If someone would be kind enough to give me some recomendations, I would be very thankful. Feels like aeons have past since I had a grip on the newest hardware trends.

GPU: http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=622369 RAM: http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=578918 HDD: http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=496258 For the mainboard go for something like the Gigabyte P67 UD3P. Neither of these sites has any socket 1155 mainboards listed, so I couldn't find one. The other parts are <700€, so it should be around 800-850€ total. If you wanna spend more money get an even better graphics card like the GTX570 or 580, but I think the AMD 6950 should be good enough.

The pro is that you're get your system now instead of 1-2 months later. The con is that you're paying the same price for a slower performing processor. You may not care about this as it'll still be a big improvement from your old computer but you may regret it later if you look at the benchmarks between the two processors.

I've read on several german sites that the boards of at least MSI and ASRock have already been shipped to the retailers and should be available in early March in Europe. Bottleneck for fps in your setup is probably the GPU.

Don't know why the GPU should make a difference when you alt tab though. Maybe it's a software problem?

They only differ in some light overclocking (not worth the extra price) or better / silent cooler. http://geizhals.at/deutschland/?cat=gra16_512&xf=132_1024~1439_GTX 460&sort=p
