If $100 really isn't that much to you, then yeah, go with the i7-2600k. But honestly, that $100 is better spent elsewhere...like...a solid state drive! :D Otherwise, I suppose if you run SETI@home or something like that, your computer will use the hyper threading and be able to work on 8 projects at once instead of just 4. That'd be kinda cool? Also, as far as what SE stands for, I think it stands for "slow edition." No joke. Don't quote me on that though. :D uhh you sure that's my post? I never mentioned i7 2600k or GTX 460 SE? I have AMD 955 Black Edition and yep I do have a Intel x-25 120 GB SSD. W00T!

For the same money you can get an i5-2400, which is way better. You should probably get the 1gig GTX460 for 1920x1080. Installing windows isn't a problem you just have to click accept/next/whatever a couple of times and everything basically happens on its own.

http://i.imgur.com/AFKdF.jpg Basically every part is better than the parts you suggested. It's a bit more expensive than your setup because I included a 24" monitor instead of your 21,5". If you go for a smaller monitor this setup should be even cheaper than yours.

The differences between the brands are: 1. Some manufacturers install their own coolers which may be less loud/more effective than the standard ones. 2. Some cards are overclocked by the manufacturer Basically you should pick the cheapest GTX460 with 1GB. I chose the second cheapest because the other one has a really loud and annoying cooler. I don't know how much more money you want to spend though. You could even go for something like a GTX 560 (http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=43719&agid=707)

Only the really overpriced ones usually have lifetime warranty. Don't know where you got this idea. Any -AR card by eVGA is a lifetime warranty and at normal price. E.g. here's a 560 at a normal $249 price: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130604&cm_re=gtx_560-_-14-130-604-_-Product

You have to register them and then it's 10 years warranty (at least that's how it is in Germany). The usefulness though is debatable, all graphics cards I ever had are still ok and usually you will buy a new card within 3 years or so anyway.

I'm building a computer right now, but I've been stopped dead in my tracks at the part where I am supposed to insert the motherboard into the case. See the problem is that one of the riser-holes, (not preinstalled, screwed them in myself) don't match the holes in the case. Risers are screws used to hold the board in place, and height, while simultanously maintaining constant grounding for the motherboard. My question is this, will this one missing riser affect my board?

There are nine standoffs for ATX boards. It's fine if you don't install all nine. Maybe this? http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/How-to-Install-a-Motherboard/145/2

Generally speaking missing screws shouldn't be any problem, screwing holes on the other hand..

Generally speaking missing screws shouldn't be any problem, screwing holes on the other hand.. No, haha, I screwed the risers (a kind of screw) into the case, and then you have holes in the board that you place on top of the risers, then screw a screw into the riser, with the motherboard between.. this guy helped me through it, and if you want the explanation with visuals you can watch it. Thanks a ton, SkyR!

Is it recommended to go with a full-tower case for gaming rigs?

I have a Lian Li PC-9F, it's a beautiful case and has room for 11 inch long cards. Not sure where you got the measurement of the 6970 since the actual card is 10.6 inches long. It'll fit in the case.
