Build quality, materials, battery life, display quality, keyboard quality, trackpad quality, overheating, chassis temperatures on load, noise levels, games performance (which games), application performance (which applications)? And in what priorities?

Real quick question. Already have this. Do I still need the RAM or can I just use that? Edit: I also have a Kingston HyperX Fan. I assume it's compatible.

You don't need a fan over your memory, don't bother installing it.

It depends on budget etc. but AMD CPUs are well priced in their respective brackets. The prices seem amazing, but I never found out exactly where they fit. Is the FX series an option if you can only stretch the budget to an i3, or are they more in the pentium range?

My brother is running the older version of this (x4 830 be or something) and only just recently he found games that he can't run on ultra settings smoothly (and that's with 260GT geforce). I also need 4 cores to help with huge database manipulation (work work work).

Go for B85 / non-k i5 if you have to and forget about a later upgrade. Or skimp on graphics now and make that your later upgrade. Anyway, I have trouble understanding why you'd want to buy Phenom II X4 unless you're getting it for really cheap and absolutely are going minimal on the rest of the build.

Anyway, I have trouble understanding why you'd want to buy Phenom II X4 unless you're getting it for really cheap and absolutely are going minimal on the rest of the build. Haswell i5 (just the cpu) is 25% more expensive than x4 + mobo where I'm getting it. B85 mobo is going to be only slightly cheaper than 970 extreme4. In total, it would be 33% more expensive (cpu + mobo). In theory I could make it if I stuck with stock cpu cooling, dropped RAM to 2x2GB and downgrading something else (HDD or PSU)
