On December 29 2012 02:35 Myrmidon wrote: Latency? Response?
Let's back up. The word I'm looking for is to describe the rate of information delivery, i.e. data received per unit time. Generally we're talking about steady-state information / time, so latency is not considered. Or just assume that the information flow is endless and average over all time.
Bandwidth clearly implies the width of the frequency band as it does in all sorts of contexts, so please no. Some people are not liking speed, as in transfer speed. Anything that suggests signalling rate (symbol rate, chip rate, in some contexts) is not good, because in a large number of scenarios, there is not 1 info bit / symbol—over a serial bus, generally there are overheads (e.g. 8b/10b line code) bringing it under 1, and some kind of data-modulated RF transmission like Wi-Fi can have multiple info bits per symbol or less than unity as well. Anything that implies that the time unit of consideration includes time of transit and related ideas (propagation time / processing time / waiting in buffers / waiting on clock) is a little off too.
Yeah ItzSnypah's post implied to me that he defined "speed" as propagation time.
A lot of boards advertise similar features.

Did you decide differently about overclocking?

I've built computers before, but I have no idea what to buy and whats compatible; its too risky for me to go figure it out on my own... My budget is about $1,000 - $1,500. Perferably on the lower side. I am also planning to dual screen Acer G205HVbd Black 20" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 200 cd/m2 ACM 5,000:1 (700:1), but if anyone has a better monitor that they could suggest, I am open to all suggestions . I am planning to use it for mainly gaming and streaming, but the occasion video watching. My upgrade cycle is preferable 2+ years, but I can do short. I plan to start building it as soon as I can. I have the money ready to go. No overclocking. The OS will be Windows 7. I plan to also use Newegg to get all my parts. EDIT: I would also like to get an SSD Again, I would really appreciate the help! Thank you! plus any size monitor okay, don't need OS, all still valid? Which games would you be streaming? What's your upload speed? Depending on needs, parts can be wasteful or insufficient.
Z77X-UP4 is a more expensive enthusiast overclocking motherboard, by the way, but we may as just start from scratch.

yeah my cousin suggested that we try overclocking with this rig. I'll probably be streaming starcraft and dota2. I'm planning to upgrade my upload speed.
hmmm... i see...
EDIT: Scratch that motherboard. IDK what i was thinking lol. I guess thats what happens when you are running on 2 hours of sleep -_-....
looked around a bit more... might replace it with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131837

Is the g45 regarded better than the pro 3? Much of a difference at all? I mean the MSI Z77A-G45.

No. Not much difference. The pro3 is probably regarded a little better.

The main draw is the PCIe x8/x8 split capability and SLI support. Some people could possibly be interested in the extra full-length PCIe slot and the SPDI/F digital audio transport support on the G45. Aside from that, not sure that they're different in ways most people would care about. Some people like MSI more than AsRock. Not sure about BIOS features. AsRock Pro3 level can usually overclock fine on air.

Hi everyone.
I decided it was time to swap my old grapics card gt 9800 gt to a newer one that could handel demanding games better. I bought a gtx 670 oc version. I first tryed to put in the new grap card but it wouldent work .. putted in the old card and took away the drivers and then put in the new card again.. but all I get is black screen saying ( no cabel connected) I tryed both dvi and hdmi noone of em worked. I bought a 850 w power supply so it cant get to littel djuce.

Did you plug in the 6 pin power connectors for the graphics card?

well I did plug in the power connectors from the power supply as many pins I could get into the grap card

Can someone please look over this build for me? I am attempting to build a gaming PC that will be able to run most current games on med-high settings while retaining an acceptable frame rate.

Does everything look in order? Am I getting the best bang for my buck? With the rebates and all it comes out to around 600ish.

I think I will try the Capstone 450, will it be enough juice?

Yes, provides nearly the same amount as your original choice.

Thanks skyR I appreciate the input and fast responses !

Try reseating the gpu (pull it out of the pci-e slot, and put it back in). It would also be helpful if you could take a few close up photos of the power cord connectors you put it, the pci-e slot, and the output ports, so we can see if there are any obvious oversights

I was kind of hoping it was a language barrier thing.

Pulled the trigger on my build and forgot I didn't have to pay sales tax on it from newegg and got ass creed 3 for free. Ended up putting rush processing on it and 3 day shipping and came out to under 750 total. Feel like I did a pretty good job researching and double checking everything. Now to hope I don't get any DOA parts when it arrives. Thanks everyone.
