I am considering using virtual machines as well, what would be something just to make sure I don't overheat my computer. I'm just really frightened of doing so after investing so much. There are people on SilentPCReview who run completely passive rigs with no fans. Computers don't have hot flashes, and unless you're putting them under heavy stress with overclocks and maximum loads (which are usually artificial) you're not going to shut down from not having enough fans. Anyways, the majority of cases that you can really put extra fans in have such bizarre airflow that it's by no means helping significantly to stick random fans on there.

What do you think about this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157280 I was thinking about running a 7850 or 7770 with it, along with a decent amd processor. Thoughts? thanks. What would you be doing with the computer? If it's gaming, there exists no such thing as a "decent amd processor" at any price point (unless you're looking sub-$100 and getting an unusual sale on a processor), in comparison with what's available on the market.

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/advent-dt2111-desktop-pc-11875804-pdt.html I found this, which looks decent, though I'm not sure about the graphics card :/ Anyone have some good suggestions? EDIT: I'd really rather not build my own computer, by the way.

(I feel like the 7770 results can't be that bad but who knows).

Hmm i just watched a video where the 7770 was better in a few new games, ill link ya. I won't be playing high graphics, just low everything besides maybe textures and aim for 120fps. edit: nevermind I'm an idiot, thought they were testing Ti version but they were just testing regular 650...

That's because the 650ti is at a higher pricepoint. 7770's start at $120 on newegg, 650ti's start at $140-$150. He just has a really expensive 7770 is all. Slide you'd be better off just asking for a complete build (I can't do it as I don't know american specials). EDIT: Do you even have a 120fps monitor?

Sorry if this is a weird topic to post here, but I didn't really know where else to go! Basically I'm beginning to look into upgrading my 2-year-old rig, partly because I want to and party because I've found that when I try to stream Dota 2 it lags the game pretty hard, which I assume is a hardware issue (I don't know all that much about computers, honestly). This is my current setup: CPU: i5-2500k GPU: Asus GTX 560 Motherboard: an MSI Z68 from 2 years ago PSU: Asus (?) 750W RAM: 4GB G.Skill 1600 HDD: 1TB of a brand that I forget SDD: none I can't find the boxes to provide more information on the Motherboard/PSU/RAM/HDD, but I'll keep looking. Basically I'm thinking that I should upgrade my RAM to 8GB, and possibly upgrade the GPU if I want to be able to stream and play Dota 2 in high quality. Am I on the right track, and if not (or even if so), can anyone suggest upgrades? Thanks!

Looking for best bang for buck, and can spend pretty much any reasonable amount on these pieces.

I was just giving a comparison. I should have elaborated a bit at least, 2GB ram won't make a huge difference at lower resolutions... But yeah, the GPU market is pretty good right now, pretty much everything from the 7750/650 up is at the very least decent at its price. Imo at least. The 7750/650 hit pretty similar price points for similar performance, and everything else is pretty incremental as far as price/performance gain goes, afaik. Edit: As far as I can see, 7770 starts at 130$ on Newegg, versus 140$ for the GTX 650 Ti, which offers a minor performance increase. As far as money goes, if you're comparing "entry level" versions, you probably couldn't go wrong, as long as you pay attention to which game each GPU excels in. Also: GTX 650 offering assassins creed 3 for free 2 weeks after I bought mine >.<

Depending on what kind of performance or other requirements need to be met, the answer could just be to ignore or sell the processor. Or it could be to use it. It's most likely the latter, for most people, especially if you don't want to sell it.

Would an i3 be sufficient? Should I get a separate GPU?
