I've been experiencing huge slowdown in large battle, especially in team games. My computer is decent so I have no idea why. Can someone help?

Specs:
Windows 7 64-bit
AMD Phenom X4 9600, Quad-core 2.3 ghz
nvidia GeForce 9600 GSO
4 GB of RAM

What settings are you running it on? The 2.3 ghz seems slowish but adequate, as only two cores are used (mostly), as does the 9600. I'm not sure though.

The 9600GSO isn't exactly the most powerful graphics card and will perform around the vicinity of the HD 4670 which means you won't get too much performance out of it.

Hey guys i downloaded starcraft II beta yesterday and tried playing it but i was lagging too much and ended up dropping even at the lowest settings possible.I know it's not my internet because it's fast and never have had problems with it. Here are my computer's specs:

Gigabyte k8n pro-sli motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core 3800+
1 gig corsair ram
Radeon x850 xt graphics card
300 gig hard drive
Microsoft XP Home edition

Is there anything holding my computer back from playing starcraft II? Thanks!

I got amd64 3500
3gb ram
winxp
ati 4850

and can play it on medium - it recomments ultra thou -_-

the only problem i ve is that i ve freezes every now and then. sometimes 20 in a game and then 15 games without em, dunno whats causin that thou, can move mouse and shit but sound is stuttering and seems to loop O_o

Hm dunno, i am a wow player and in my 4h raids i ve nothing like that even thou i ve bad fps there

(9-17 in 25man raids) so i dont think overheating might be the problem but what do i know ^^

last i checked heating - it was like 42° (celsius) for my cpu and graphic wont go higher than 60°.

You know what? It's alright. I'll just turn off anti-aliasing and tweak some other settings and see if it helps. Thanks anyway. There's really not point in buying an entirely new card if it's not a huge upgrade and I just don't have the money to buy top of the line cards.

{ToT}ColmA: Then are your drivers up to date? The 4850 should have absolutely no trouble with SC2 at all, especially on your settings :/

AsianEcksDragon: Yeah, If you don't have the $160 or so to upgrade, there really is no point since the 9600GSO is around $60-80 depending on the verison.

So people are suggesting something like a 5570 or 9600gt video card, but what about cpu? Should any modern quad core be able to handle the bigger 4vs4 battles and some of the crazy games on ums? How about dual cores? I'm using an amd 64 x2 4000+ (2.10GHz). Is the bottleneck more with the cpu or gpu assuming I'm playing on lowest settings?

Definitely more with the CPU at the lowest settings, but if you're playing on the lowest possible settings, your AMD 64 X2 should be absolutely fine.

SC2 at the moment does not make use of extra cores, but some benchmarks show improvements in FPS with extra cores so I dunno.

I'm using a 8600gt and I do fine in 1vs1 games but in a maxed out 2vs2 battle it lags and I'd like to be able to play 4vs4 and the custom maps with huge armies without it lagging. My computer lags a lot 3vs3.
