The Global StarCraft II League will continue into 2023!
Following the conclusion of Super Tournament II, the final GSL tournament of 2022, AfreecaTV CEO Jung Chan Yong took the stage to announce that "GSL will continue next year as well on AfreecaTV."
Beyond that statement, no further details were offered at the time. To use this current season's announcements as a reference, AfreecaTV announced the details for the 2022 GSL Tour on January 18th of this year, while ESL announced the 2022/23 ESL Pro Tour on January 7th.

Used to watch several hours of esports daily before life got busy.
GSL is the only thing still consistently on my radar after 15 years. That and the odd ASL stream.

Awesome news, but I am still a bit worried, that they might tone it down to two GSLs (+ ST) a year.

Guys, you need to worry about only one thing: GSL can move to afreeca.tv. And it is real.

Less GSL is better than no GSL. I doubt I would still watch StarCraft 2 without the Korean scene, so this is an awesome news for sure!

a big thanks to ATVI , Blizzard and most of all Bobby Kotick for funding another season of SC2 even though there is zero chance of making a profit on it.
In 2010, the C&C franchise was the top non-Blizzard RTS and C&C4 released around the same time as SC2. Interesting to contrast the state of C&C esports with Starcraft esports.

With respect to State I would like to see Artosis return to the broadcast. I wouldn't mind him doing it from Canada.

This is wonderful news, was starting to get worried about the future of SC2 ESPORTS with no news about 2023. Hopefully some kind of ESL contract/pro tour goes through, but in the meantime I mostly watch GSL so it's great to know that I won't have nothing to watch next year.

I will keep a prudent posture for now, but if it does go on next year in a traditionnal"ish" format SC2 will have defied my expectation once again.
I really thought this year was the year, but with the patch and now this, SC2 look like it will still be alive entering its 13th years, great news!

I mean...Artosis is hosting The Grand Melee right now, an AoE 2 tournament at DreamHack Hannover, even though he barely has any knowledge about AoE 2. All while HSC is happening, of course also in Germany.
Honestly, I think Artosis and SC2 are just kind of done at this point? And I really don't mean that negative towards either him or the game, it is fine if you are just interested in other things at the moment.

Yeah, the fact that Artosis chose to walk away from GSL should tell you about his "passion" for casting SC2. He probably just prefer to make a living now, so he will do whatever events that invite him and pay well.
