That's a very specific milestone ![](/mirror/smilies/puh2.gif) Also worth noting, that's it's just for prize money. When you consider salaries etc the top guys have already easily earned over a million Lol I wanted to write first player in any 1v1 game, but Shadow verse (thanks weebs, including me :p) ruined it.
Also I know a lot of them have surpassed one millions in actual earnings, but now one of those four if he wins can pull up his phone and go to esportsearnings and be like "yeah that's right, I made a million bucks playing StarCraft."

Judging from the number, Liquidpedia showing higher amount, so I guess they counted events that Aligulac missed or did not consider (like Team League)? I am asking this because depending on which database is being used, someone might make or miss the milestone. I think ESL has been using Aligulac number so far.

My conspiracy theory is that MaxPax has a disability or some other obvious physical deformity, and he feels like showing up in person would result in people taking his photo and turning it into a meme. Which I think for any of us in those circumstances would be a giant fear. I would be totally understanding in this case, and would recommend against going simply because people are cruel. However, the more likely theory is that he's autistic or something and being around too much sensory input or crowds would just be debilitating and he wouldn't be able to perform at his regular level.

I am going to miss MaxPax games for sure. On the other hand, the smiling assassin is a nice Protoss replacement.

esportsearnings splits teamleague prizes equally among all players of the roster at the time

A couple of years ago some Korean Player missed the world champs because of a wedding (maybe Polt?) It could very well be the same case here for MaxPax. Please for the love of God, stop making these wild asumptions. He isn t going, we are all sad, but we have to deal with it.

People needing to rationalize on their own way and unable/unwilling to accept he has his own privacy. But it's always funny to see that kind of speculations.

Not sure why people are calling those out who wonder why he doesn't attend. Yes he doesn't owe it to us and he has a right for privacy but when a professional competitor who has a lot of fans cheering for him doesn't attend the biggest event of the year for unknown reasons it's completely understandable that people wonder and speculate about his reasons.
Without the fans he wouldn't earn any money

PSISTORM wages + respectable prize money for the year + his parents probably paying the no camera penalty.
So while the first part of your post is right (everybody can wonder why, myself included because I was initially surprised too), the second part of it is wrong. How infrequently he streams compared to how much he plays is a good show of how he treats subs and donations as a nice bonus, but absolutely not central to his living.

Even if he doesn't get the money directly from the fans, the players are still reliant on fans existing for them to earn any money from the game

In the coaching video he did with Harstem, it was apparent that MaxPax was a little confused on how to handle social conversations.
Now that's probably not super uncommon for a lot of 17-year olds who spents the majority of the time in their own room gaming. However, the thing that seemed unusual to me was that he didn't seem to understand the concept of "trash talking". Not in the sense that it was BM to trash talk but rather just seemed genuinely confused as to why Harstem joked about doing that.

Kinda sad that the entire "race for Kattowice" was basically useless in the end, but whatever. Really bad for MaxPax if he really has social anxiety or anything else. Reminds me of Satiini in WC3. Great player, but if I remember correctly he was afraid of flying and couldn't attend most events, right?
I assumed MlorD would drop out, especially with N4C qualifiers being in that time-frame. I guess he has a good shot not only to qualify, but actually win N4C for some big money. Much better chances than in Poland.

TL.net arm chair psychologists are the the esport version of Bill "Body Language Expert" Simmons.

I hope MaxPax feels comfortable to show himself on stream and at events at some point in the future. Doing audio interviews and coachings are great first steps. He is such a great player and the most interesting character in the scene for me right now.

Perhaps there’s something in the MaxPax is AlphaStar unleashed rumours
Pity he won’t play though, interesting player to watch. Pretty pumped herO made it in

Honestly think that hero has good chances of winning IEM. I'd give him about 5% to win the whole thing. For reference the person with the highest percentage of winning in my mind is either Serral or Maru, which would be at around 10%
