I really really hope Maru gets to win this. The ultimate GOAT should be the one getting the G5L, and a true full code S one at that

TY is better at preparation and tactics. Maru is better at macro, micro, multitasking and decision making.
I am 80% sure Maru will win this.

Hopefully Maru stomps all over TY

I think TY will take it 4-1 or 4-0, his preparation is on another level recently. But if it's just regular games It's gonna be very close.

I have to say Maru has seemed extremely confident in defending the various curve balls his recent opponents have thrown at him, so finding cracks in Maru's armor will not be easy for TY!

I think TY has the best preparation in the world though. Maru does seem to have better control, I think the onus is on TY to get a lead in the midgame.

Although a G5L would be cool especially in sc2’s tenth anniversary year I think TY wins this. Maru is an incredible player but if he does have a weaker matchup its probably TVT, not to say his isn’t one of best in the world. I think Ty probably takes this primarily based on his solid series planing and decision making. TY is probably the second or third best Terran but he is the best at TVT.
It will be close. But I say Ty 4-3

If Maru had won Super Tournament before his 4th Code S, would they have given him the G5L already?
That Super Tournament wasn't even a weekender as well, it was played over a few weeks, in another world they would have ran a Code S instead of it. Add on that 2013 season 2 got labelled an OSL, it would be a crime if Maru never officially gets it.

TY still has an insane record in this season. Only one match lost in Ro16 (of course he skipped Rou32). In season 1 he got very similar results. Anything could happen on the final but I'm really glad with TY's performance this year. I'm curious how they will play on the tricky doomed map Golden Wall for a last time in an offline match.

I'm a huge Maru fan, but I think TY is the favorite coming into the match. I just hope that some combination of Jin Air prep and Maru's instincts for making last-minute strategy adjustment gets him through. The only outcome I have a hard time picturing is a stomp by Maru. I think if he wins, it gonna be 4-3. If TY wins, I think the score could be 4-0 or 4-3 or anything in between.

TY was already a legendary player, but this season he has looked charmed. His match preparation and strategic gambits are better than GSL usually sees at any stage. You have to bet with your head on TY's revenge.
P.S. Even if he gets second place, that still makes Maru GOAT since he will have four wins and a second place.

It will be close. But I say Ty 4-3 Best at TvT didn’t even manage to beat Cure in KoB... The only time TY was the best at TvT and fought Maru in finals was 2018 S3, and we saw what happened against the king of finals

It's more TvTY than TvT. I love how everybody goes - Maru's weakness is a TvT while he just won a TvT finals with a TvT semis and a TvT RO8. He beat there Inno(3:0), CLem(4:2) and Cure(4:1). CUre beat TY 4:3. Had he win by a single close game, I would admit Maru's TvT may be a weakness, but FFS he did beat 3 good Terran and the closest game series was against a foreigner. Like did everyone miss it?

Definitely has the most potential out of any GSL final since their 2018 clash. Maru who has been looking in form recently and not showing any weakness in TvT (if anything he's been shaky in non-mirrors) on one side. On the other TY who has been looking transcendent in GSL this season in particular and who's always been a TvT expert.
They've played 2 best of 7 matches, both went to game 7. If we get that again I see no reason to complain.
|
Lots of people commenting about TY's preparation being the best in the world, but Maru wins GSLs and not many weekend tournaments because preparation is his bread and butter.
|
If Maru perform like in AlphaX tournament, then Maru should be the slight favorite as he's beaten 3 top tier terrans. However base on last performances, TY has been insane in his preparation and strategy. While Maru has slight issue with his shoulder, he managed to beat Armani.
I think either way it will be very close because it's TvT and based on 2 previous finals they met. Both went the distance of 4-3 scores.
I'd have to give TY a slight advantage based on the semi final performances.
