I remember seeing units like a roach blowing up from a siege tank and then the body would fly upwards to the sky, this was awhile ago, did blizzard change how these settings work? I don't see this happening anymore. I have physics and effects at the highest possible setting.
also, does anybody have a modern CPU but sc2 still suggests only high for physics/extreme? I have a 10700 and im surprised it does not suggest the highest settings for these.
The unit death physics are random, you don't always get the exaggerated animation all the time. Also the game is still heavily single threaded so the extra cores on the 10700 wouldn't help much, especially in team games.
in terms of fps, it is not suggested to have those settings on the highest values, that is why sc2 doesn't recommend that, i think. with 'high' physics you will see different death animations already. and I'm not even sure what do 'effects' do at all but they are not related to the particular death animations.
and yeah, unfortunately, even 10700k doesn't solve the fps issue, however, it can maintain it playable, even though it won't be 100+ when the game comes down to carriers or team matches.
