When SC2 came out the summer before my junior year of college, I bought it immediately and recruiting my best friend from childhood, who was then in the Army, and another best buddy from high school, who'd just moved in with me, and we spent 2-3 weeks playing 3v3s as 3 terrains doing reaper rushes.

It was so stupid.

Between cheesing the crap out of people we'd watch the early GSL games, qualifiers for IEM etc. on my laptop that I hooked up to our TV. Some of the best times.

What a long, strange journey it's been. Always loved Brood War and was so stoked when SC2 came out. From watching Idra GG out of a likely win to Fruitdealer surprising the crap out of everyone, to Steppes of War in general and then marveling at MVP crushing nerds, this game has continued delivering for 10 years after that initial magic.

Super grateful to the community and casters that continue to support this game a decade later. The SC franchise is truly a unicorn in the competitive scene.

I still remember my smooth transition from war3 to sc2, it was a pleasure. And I'm proud to be a part of such complex, smart and incredible community!

Happy BDay StarCraft2! This is our celebration as well. Let's not forget those who made this game as great as it is (Mike Morehime, David Kim, Dustin Browder and co), and we will never forget those who left us too young (TotalBiscuit and iNcontrol).

ESL, DH, TakeTV and GSL are also doing their parts, thanks to casters/hosts (It could be a bit list starting from Apollo, Day9, Tastosis and ending with people who carry the torch right at this moment) we love and follow.

Let's make it another 10 years!

I only got into Starcraft recently, but it's already made such a huge impact on my life. As a high school student, nobody I know irl plays sc, it's all LoL or Valorant or CoD. It's surreal to me to see the sheer amount of notice it's getting today, but it feels sentimental nonetheless. (even though I was 4 when it first came out!) My dad played the campaign during nights during a good majority of my elementary school years, and I remember spending hours sitting on a cheap fold-up chair watching aliens on a screen fight, going to bed at near midnight and being as quiet as possible creeping up from the basement in hopes that my mom wouldn't wake up. It's insane how much this one little game I thought my dad only played affected everyone, it's honestly amazing. Last year, I decided to search back up the game out of pure nostalgia, and I had no idea how much I'd get hooked. I can't describe the feeling bingewatching a playthrough of the campaign over 7 days and being completely pulled in the entire time. And then I discovered the pro scene... and I've been absolutely hooked ever since. Happy 10 years Starcraft, and I hope for many more.

i thought Browder , Sigaty et al were great. However, this "we're in the final stretch" comment had me crawling the walls waiting for SC2. The "final stretch" was announced in February 2009.
