Even if it's not reasonable or appropriate, though, Special shouldn't announce this on his own. It's a bad sign to future potential teams that this player isn't very reliable or responsible with information.

Please don't get paid for a week while we sit on this. Riiiiggght. It is entirely possible to get in contact with people privately over DMs/email/text/phone and look for a job that way. If there is a planned announcement at a set time, it's incredibly unprofessional to make that announcement ahead of time. In eSports? No. you can't. In fact, in eSports, like in most industries, you go through your network first to find a job. So Special doesn't announce it, but goes to TY and says "hey amigo, you know of any teams looking for awesome Mexican terrans?". The first thing TY is gonna do is ask why. What is Special supposed to say then? Lie? And then TY asks around on Special's behalf... sounds like the word is out there anyway. The professional SC2 world is tiny: they all know one another. It's like if a football manager loses his job. People are going to want to know why Pep Guardiola is shopping around for a new team and the Sun will have it plastered all over their frontpage 2 minutes after he sends an email to Barça.

The employer who asks you to put your livelyhood on hold for some sort of waiting period while you dont get paid is certainly the one being unprofessional. This is basic HR. If they continued to pay him and made him sign an NDA or something in that regard, sure. But doesnt seem to be the case. If you get relieved from a job, dont wait, get your name out there immediately. Pretty simple. I would not hire you even if you volunteered to work for free, you basic HR. Terrible attitude and ethic... ugh

TO the first thing - depends how it works. As far aas I understand they asked for a week of silence, not a week of doing nothing. Special mentioned how much good they have done, mayhbe he could have repaid with a week of silence on social media while not saying anything to the rumors spreading around. To me it seems as a normal thing. Also usually companies pay you a fee to keep you officially silent. Edit> he could have said to TY - well, I'm looking for a new job. + Show Spoiler + I'm going on the work related interviews from time to time in case somebody will outbid my current emplyer. ![]()

On the other hand, if you are no longer paid even for that 1 hour, it's unjustifiable to try to dictate behaviour of another person who you now have no contract with.

Regarding the actual news - my sympathies for everyone involved. It sounds like Chivo was a good organization with good players and I hope everyone finds new homes in short order. Good luck!

There's not enough money being made in esports for a progamer to have to show employer loyalty that would be considered ridiculous in any other job (I'd argue that getting paid millions like a pro athlete doesn't require this either). The guy lost his job, and he wants a new one ASAP. There's nothing special (har har) about SC2 progaming that makes fans entitled to self-detrimental behavior from progamers to serve some romantic notion of "sports professionalism" that doesn't actually exist.

Special needs to worry about himself and get his name out there so he can find a new team. In normal circumstances, yes. But the thing is, Chivo didn't have people who only live in Korea. The management wanted him to wait for a day until they manage the time difference. Ragnarok was allowed to show he "LEFT" the team, NOT to mention the team itself has disbanded. He only had to wait A DAY for it. No wonder CranK would be furious. Besides the fact that his wife was the manager. She had every right to announce that, don't you think? Maybe the things wouldn't have that bad if he just didn't mention about the disbandment.

instead i see people getting outraged that special announced this. who cares. seriously. if your employer makes you sign an NDA you have to abide by it, but if your employer implodes then nobody cares.
