Geoff 'iNcontroL' Robinson has passed away - Page 45

From iNcontroL’s Twitter: To offer some solace in this time of grief: We've learned that Geoff passed quickly and painlessly from a blood clot in his lungs. He was with friends. He always urged and led us by example to take care of ourselves to the best of our ability. Remember to do that for him today.

It was at the end of 2011 when I got more into Starcraft II and its community. Shortly after that my brother got diagnosed cancer. When it got worse, I skipped studying and spent most of the day in hospital, which was the hardest, most challenging and exhausting time of my life. Every day I’ve got some hours of peace when watching HayprOs stream for breakfast and when playing some games myself in the evening. After my brother died my world was shattered. It was at that very moment when I got to know a group of people within the Starcraft community that welcomed me. We played together, watched tournaments together, talked. I – again – felt at peace, at home, welcomed. We went to HSC 5 where I met Geoff for the first time. It was at that event where I could forget all my pain and enjoy life again for the first time. I remember him making me feel good and positive and laugh, like he did with so many people (he for sure would not remember). I have not had time to play Starcraft or follow the scene anymore for quite a while. But every time I do, I get the same feeling of “coming home”. The Starcraft community is still family, a safe place and Geoff has been and still is an unreplaceable part of it. I feel a pain of an intensity that surprises me. I can’t imagine how the people close to him must feel right now. There is one thing I am sure of: This community will comfort those who need it. I am so very sorry for your loss.

My sincerest heartfelt thoughts to his family and loved ones, it’s going to be tough every day for many years. Rest in peace Geoff. You will be missed. eSports and the world has lost one of the best friends, personalities, and gentlemen it had. Hope you can play a game with Violet champion

Like many I'm sure, I'd had my own interactions with Geoff and could only say good things about him. Every time we spoke (apart from one Idra related conversation...!) he was exceptionally sweet and helpful - he even put himself out when he didn't have to. This is such a terrible shame. I haven't logged in to this account in years but I always keep a toe dipped and check things every so often - this is news I didn't want to see. I had to go through the whole forgotten password shenanigans, but if anything could bring me back it was to pay my respects to this great man. Deepest heartfelt condolences to family and friends - the scene lost a pillar today.

I wont ever forget him. The times when I fell in love with SC2 and decided to play seriously, in 2012, the golden era of WoL, etc. Man........wow.....

I never had the opportunity to directly interact with him, but from the different streams I saw and testimonies I read here, he seemed like a genuinely good person (and of course a huge presence in the StarCraft community). He will be missed, the world needs more Geoffs, not less.

If I was religious, I would tell God to go f*ck himself. Reality is sickening unfair.

This was back in 2013 at the opening of the Astro Gaming store in San Francisco. He came in with Anna and Bryce (Machine) and met up with the rest of the EG crew Ben (DeMuslim), Ricki Ortiz and Eduardo (PR Rog). That was the first time I had met any of them and as a fan of the FGC (Fighting Game Community) as well I was nerding out over seeing these LEGENDS all in one place not gaming or anything just hanging out and talking. He was so genuine and cemented his legacy in my mind as one of the all around best guys in the SC community. Rest in Peace Geoff, you are already very much missed.
