From iNcontroL’s Twitter: To offer some solace in this time of grief: We've learned that Geoff passed quickly and painlessly from a blood clot in his lungs. He was with friends. He always urged and led us by example to take care of ourselves to the best of our ability. Remember to do that for him today.

This was tough since eSports is so new, and everyone involved is still so young. It's way too early - really makes for a gray day

The passing of an e-sports personality you follow is so different to any other public personality. We watch them for thousands of hours, and they give us their candid selves. They joke around, talk seriously about the world and life in general, they reveal their personal lives and struggles, they teach and give guidance, and they share our love and passion for a game with intensity and in a world where it’s difficult to find others who do so. Even though we don’t talk it feels like we are on the couch with them. We are in our deeply personal spaces when we watch them on stream. Slouched on our desks in our room in our PJs drinking hot chocolate. Sometimes they are a constant presence in the background while we do other things. We watch them when we are vulnerable and going through difficult times – when we turn on their stream when we don’t feel like getting out of bed, they are literally there next to us providing comfort. Especially in TB's and Geoff’s case – its so obvious that there was genuine care and nurturing for us viewers in all that they did. Whilst you might think you and Geoff never met, he absolutely knew and cared about you. There’s an emotional bond that forms, as weird as that may seem. Trying not to be over-dramatic here, but I think you should allow yourself to feel like you've lost an actual friend, even though your rational self will tell you otherwise. Allow yourself to grieve and take the same recommendations for grieving that would apply to an IRL friend. A huge loss.

Out of everything, I am saddest I will never have met him in real life. I've been an avid follower of the StarCraft e-sport scene since 2007 ... and since EG's SC2 formation InControl has been my favorite player and caster. I will never be able to launch StarCraft again without some thought for him. If I end up doing anything beneficial to this community it will be dedicated to Geoff.

At times like this it’s a real kick in the gut but having a hobby and scene where people love them or loathe them are their real selves and put that out there is something to be cherished. Dead game? How many other hobbies have a community like this and a real connection with the big names in the scene? I ran into Artosis in Discord the other day and we joked about training our progeny for a future SC3. Sure these are small moments, but there’s an accessibility and openness in this scene that I feel we all take a bit for granted, myself included, I guess I’ve been thinking about it more hearing this awful news. I never got to meet Geoff sadly but a friend I knew did at a Warhammer competition, stream Geoff was IRL Geoff

Thank you for all the laughs, legend. You've played a part in my life for the past 15 years. I doubt I have ever seen or met a person as positive and as kind as you. You'll be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Rest in peace, you wonderful human. gg.

It was my favorite video of him, he was joking about his stream viewers/coaching students wanting to go to other coaches as he was stuck in Platinum Thank you!

Really shakes me up. | ||

I knew it was serious, but I never truly thought he was going to die. Idk, he seemed invincible to me like all parents do to their kids. To see someone so much younger, fully of so much humor and light, die makes me unbearably sad... but also appreciate my father surviving even more. Fuck man.
