From iNcontroL’s Twitter:

To offer some solace in this time of grief: We've learned that Geoff passed quickly and painlessly from a blood clot in his lungs. He was with friends. He always urged and led us by example to take care of ourselves to the best of our ability. Remember to do that for him today.

I had no idea about this until seeing another thread that alluded to a dedication to iNc.. then realized the worst. I can only speak from personal experience, but he was always very kind to me every time we played, I admired his work and looked up to him for many years as he was one of the USA-A players that I would find on ladder and would agree to play more with me and offer constructive advice. I can firmly say that in over 30 games, I have never taken a single one off of this man, rest his soul.

This hurts, what a kind guy.. I loved his humor.. I loved his dedication.. this hurts a lot.
My best thoughts and wishes to his family. See you on the other side bud.
I need to protect all your life you can enjoy the vibrant life of your battery

It was but a moment ago that we embarked on a new D&D journey. Starcraft lost a pillar and the world, a great soul.

The world is truly a darker place. Thank you for all of the great memories.

Rest in peace.

Everyone who has enjoyed the explosion of the esports scene in the mid-late 2010's owes something to Geoff. His wit, irreverence, and persistence made him a special personality who elevated whatever show he was on and brought the best out of his co-broadcasters. The success of Starcraft 2 paved the way for Dota 2, LoL, and all modern esports. Countless memorable moments have their roots in Geoff joking around with 2gd at dreamhack and making thousands of people want to tune in next time.

As a man, he took adversity on the chin and wore his heart on his sleeve, even when it would have been easy to be guarded and sarcastic, especially with how intelligent he was. He was a special guy and his impact will be felt long after he has gone. RIP to someone who was taken far too young.

after the initial disbelief, it has started to sink in. it's not in any way any better..

if this feels so bad for someone like me, who has never had the chance to meet him in person, I cannot begin to imagine what it must be for his family and close ones; my heart goes out to them

this is terrible, i'm so so sorry

Wow, so sad that the world has lost such a good guy. It's hard to overstate the impact that he's had on this game and esports in general. He was an astute observer, always filled with wit and jokes and good old fashioned sarcastic banter. Perhaps his family and friends will take some solace knowing that he put smiles on so many faces over the years.

Hi guys, I would like to quickly share my experience today.

This morning, as I was at my job, having to deal with some uninspiring projects (happens). I worked while listening to the last Pylon Show episode. I died laughing several times as Geoff delivered his perfectly timed sarcasms and witty comments.

3h went by and I felt good and energized for the rest of the day. I thought "God, the podcast turned this in a very enjoyable moment, cannot wait the next episode".

I feel like I lost a friend or an older brother, I dont know... I looked up to him and his ability to tell the truth.

I miss him so much already and I didn't even meet him.

My thoughts go to his friends and family.
We were blessed to have such unique individual.

RIP Geoff... Although we never met, I consider you a friend. You were with me during my darkest days, years of depression, and the light at the end of the tunnel. I followed you through your life endeavors since the days of the SC2 beta. The thought of having you gone is difficult to comprehend. It doesn't seem right to imagine a world where you're not somewhere living your own life to it's fullest. You're gone, and life seems emptier. I've never met you, but you've changed my life permanently. RIP Geoff. You changed my life for the better, acted as a true inspiration to me, and I will try to live life to the fullest in your memory.

On top of all of your accomplishments, you've motivated this man to accomplish his dreams. Thank you, friend.

I'm so shocked. So sad.
Still can't process it. This is such a huge loss...
You got to touch the lives of so many of us.
Thank you, Geoff.
And may you rest in peace.

What the fuck man...

It feels like every talent or personality I like is meeting the God of Death. First it was Monty Oum, then TotalBiscuit, and then recently one of my favourite anime studios, KyoAni was hit with an arson attack. And now this...

Shit.
Someone call down the Thunder?

you know tragically it really sounds like the life conditions of being a progamer/streamer are what killed him. I mean he was on the bigger side obviously, but let this be a lesson to everyone. take care of yourselves.

They never got all of the staph infection. An abdominal staph infection caused the abscess on his thigh.
