From iNcontroL’s Twitter:

To offer some solace in this time of grief: We've learned that Geoff passed quickly and painlessly from a blood clot in his lungs. He was with friends. He always urged and led us by example to take care of ourselves to the best of our ability. Remember to do that for him today.

Same as everyone else, just totally stunned. I wish the best to his wife, and family. I watched the Pylon Show the other day. It had been a very long time since I watch anything SC2 related. Was nice to see.

There are never any words than can make any of it better, the only thing we can do is remember what good they brought us, and Geoff brought a metric shitton to the world...ffs you will be missed.

WTF. He was so young. A bit in disbelief that we'll never hear him casting and joking again.

this is so sad. i have not played sc2 in ages, but continued watching tournaments just for people like incontrol that brought so much more to the table than mere commentary. watching incontrol stream and commentate felt like hanging out with a friend. i intended to go to the last HSC just for fun's sake to see the man in person, but after i heard that he couldn't make it thought it would just not be the same - who knew it would end this way.

gutted - he will be missed.

I'm still in shock. Lots of folks have said it feels like a gut punch, and that's how it hit me.

I've been a fan of his since forever, almost worked up the courage to talk to him at MLG Anaheim in 2011. When he PMed me on TL for my post about how I loved NASL Season One, I treasured that short message. But he was always generous with his fans. I tweeted to him once a picture of me wearing the "Three Artosis Moon" shirt and he replied right away with "Looking good buddy!"

I was a subscriber to his Twitch channel, the only channel I ever subbed to. He never failed to acknowledge his subscribers. I remember the first time he pronounced my last name incorrectly (it's commonly done, you have to guess which way to pronounce it and it's a 50-50 chance to get it right) and I was trying to think of a way to correct him in a non-snarky way the next time, but there never was a next time, because somehow he pronounced it correctly the next month and every month afterwards. Was it just luck? Or did he somehow look up how to pronounce my name? I remember him talking about Feardragon and how he learned to pronounce his first name properly. Coincidence? Maybe. But he was also just awesome enough to go and do something like that. That's just the kind of guy he was.

I was so sad when he missed going to HSC because of his illness, and I was watching it on the stream while also watching his stream. I remember messaging him about specific moments where all the other pro players and casters were missing him and wishing him well. I remember Geoff smiling and I remember being so goddamned happy that I was able to make this man happy even in a small way. In no way did it pay back all the thousands of hours of entertainment and joy that he gave me and so many others, but it was something.

God damn it. I'm rambling. I can't help myself. It's not fair to the rest of the world that Geoff is gone.

Oh my god. I haven't followed SC2 hardly in a long while (as you can see from my history), but this news has hit me so sudden. It's totally unbelievable that someone can just disappear like that, it puts life as whole in perspective. Everyone you love, everyone you like can be gone so suddenly. And afterwards you can have many regrets about feelings you never expressed to someone and now it is too late.

To bring this back to inControl, my first TL account I made in the spur of the moment after watching an SC2 game. It was inControl vs I don't even remember who, but inControl lost after having a lead that much I remember. I made a thread shit talking him and how he could ever lose from that position. I got instantly banned and rightfully so.

Looking at it now that was 8 years ago. And in that 8 years I would like to think that I have grown up a lot. And I can see, we all can see, and a lot you probably before I saw it. Just how much Geoff has done for SC2 as a whole. A game which I enjoyed and played religiously for quite a while, a game that I now still follow casually.

At this point I would like to apologize, I was immature and hot headed. I'm sure InControl never read what I posted or if he did that he wouldn't even care, but like I said, this can happen to anyone, anytime. So I hope I take my own advice to heart and be more considerate in the future.

For Geoff's friends and family I wish them strength and hope that they can get through this and honour his memory.

So incredibly sad. I've played SC2 and followed the scene closely since 2010, and Geoff has allways been one of my absolute favorite figures of the scene. Unreal to hear about this after just watching the last Pylon Show episode from wednesday...

Thank you for everything you've done for us, Geoff.

I hope we have strength enough to endure the overwhelming sense of loss that is to come.

It's just really awful, I watched his stream a lot back in the day even though he had awful music. Overall he seemed like such a great person, seemingly both personally and for the community.
Well, now I tell you, I never seen good come o' goodness yet. Him as strikes first is my fancy; dead men don't bite; them's my views--amen, so be it.

Rest in piece Geof, it was a pleasure watching your casts. Your sense of humor was unmatched and you seemed to be such an authentic person. You won't be forgotten.

Geoff was one of the people who could make me laugh to the point of tears. A true entertainer, but always himself (or so it felt). There's a void on that caster couch that will never be filled.

Damn. Incontrol was one of my favorite personalities. So much charisma plus a high level understanding of the game made watching SC2 so much more interesting. I loved listening to old school brood war and behind the scenes stories too. Rest in peace dude.
