I hope his family, friends, and community heal from this and find a way to forward Geoff's good spirit and good deeds into the world. Rest in peace, dude.

From iNcontroL’s Twitter: To offer some solace in this time of grief: We've learned that Geoff passed quickly and painlessly from a blood clot in his lungs. He was with friends. He always urged and led us by example to take care of ourselves to the best of our ability. Remember to do that for him today.

To me Geoff was an inspiration. He was my personal hero at one time. He was a pro-gamer in a game that I loved, and he was not at all the stereotype people thought of, when they thought of pro-gamer especially back then in the early days of esports (outside S Korea). He showed me that you could be an athlete, a gamer, and the life of the party and the most charismatic guy in the room, all at the same time. He went against almost all of the stereotypes people had for gamers, especially gamers who could sit and power through a 12+ hour long session, staying up all night just getting in "one more game." I remember I was at my older brothers house back when Geoff was on that WCG ultimate gamer show and my older brother told "Oh they have a starcraft player on this show" and I was like "IVE MET THAT GUY! AT BLIZZCON!" And when Geoff won that obstacle course type challenge, completely shattering how people saw him as this big husky slow guy. He was an athlete, and a gamer. He was a record holding lifting back when he was in college. He was who I would show to people when I was trying to explain to them that gaming was the future and wasnt JUST for nerdy neckbeards or basement dwellers. He was an athlete, dating a Ms America pageant contestant. It was partly because of Geoff that I finally got back into lifting after high school, and sort of had the realization that I could help redefine stereotypes myself, and do my own part. You can be a super nerd, and a gym rat, and a wargamer, and a loud charismatic person all at once. He was only 3 years older than me, and it is honestly the hardest part of this whole tragedy. To think someone so young, with so much to live for in life, died in a hospital, alone. Watching his last stream seeing him full on belly laughing and enjoying it so much and seeing/hearing him tell his squadmates "just hit me up, I'll be around all weekend" is just absolutely heartbreaking. He had WAAAYYY too much life left, to be taken so soon. His personality and humor was contagious, and all the communities he was a part of, are a bit lesser now that he is gone. Truely heartbreaking. It's going to be a rough bit of time for the foreseeable future.

When he announced on Twitter that he went to ER and misses HSC, I was worried for a bit but seemingly it was nothing serious. He had plans for the near future to travel a lot. Can't believe that so suddenly he passed away.

Today I am 31 years old, that’s 17 years of Starcraft. I’m sure most of us, (who have posted and who are lurking) can agree that the successfully recognizable names we’ve grown up with in the past decade, are names that have served an important function in our lives, akin to how a family unit operates. While I’ve never spoken to him, friends and I have spent years trailing closely behind iNcontroL. He’s made us laugh more than any other personality in any respective scene. His charisma, intelligence and wittiness are unmatched. Whenever his name was mentioned, we would jump at the opportunity to grasp at what he brought to the table. Sometimes even skipping school or work. The name iNcontroL has become synonymous with that kool uncle or older brother that always was ahead of the times with great jokes and smooth nature. It felt like he’d always been innovating the scene personality-wise and he humbly never let his bravado slip. People like Geoff have also always been a magical mystery to me. How he would magnetize all the good nature of people to the space around him and flow so effortlessly through conversations in a creative and constructive manner. He is truly an amazing human being. And this is speaking from a place of not knowing him personally. To all of you who have had the chance to spend real time with Geoff. You are very fortunate. The way you’ve spoken about Geoff in your posts reflects how impactful he was to you and makes his light shine brighter for us who haven’t had the luxury of spending time with him. This is a truly sad occurrence. It feels like I’ve lost an uncle or older brother, and that’s how it feels for friends I’ve spoken to. That’s also how it seems the community feels: at the highest, most transparent levels, right down to the community members who stay in the shadows like my close friends. And through this, it should be honestly identified just how great a thing it’s been to have had Geoff with us all this way through our experiences thus far in life. My condolences to his close family and friends. Many of us will never understand how difficult it must be for you all, because a lot of us simply won’t have the chance to meet a person that is anything like Geoff. Just, please remember: it’s very important that we not only mourn for Geoff, but that we celebrate his life with a vibrancy he would be honoured to receive. In a way that would bring a tear to his eye. And keep his prideful spirit alive in all of us for the rest of time. I’m sure we all know how much he deserves it. Rest In Peace Geoff iNcontroL Robinson. You will surely be missed, by more people than you’d think or probably ever want to admit. But you will also be celebrated by all of us as a model of compassionate inspiration. And as a reminder that there really are truly great human beings out there. GLHF on your next journey.

I haven't really done anything Starcraft related or posted on TL for years now but Geoff was such a pillar of the scene that whenever I would pop back in for a peek I would see he'd still be involved with a podcast or some more streaming and with more hilarious highlights and that would be so reliable. One of the most important people to the foreign Starcraft scene. Then I see the news on twitter 15 minutes after it's up and it's just unbelievable. The guy was so young and this came completely out of the blue. I went on Teamliquid to verify and yeah, this post is up. Same with Reddit. This sucks. This is just awful. Geoff was probably the funniest, wittiest and kindest person I've ever listened to. He made any show he was on a blast to watch. I can still hear his hilarious rants in his voice, they were so memorable. It still doesn't feel real, this came out of absolutely nowhere. Man. My condolences to his friends and family. This is gutting.
