The RO32 upsets continued in Season 2 of Code S as 2017 BlizzCon champion Rogue was eliminated from Group E. More surprising than Rogue's elimination itself was the player advancing ahead of him, as FanTaSy became the first player of the LotV era to reach the Code S RO16 after returning from Korea's mandatory military service. With victories over Rogue and Leenock, FanTaSy joined Stats in advancing from Group E.
"There were a lot of times when I wanted to quit, and it was really hard for me even recently. But as I prepared for the matches, I told myself 'as long as you're going to do this, have a good mindset and do your best.'" said FanTaSy in the post-match interview.
This year has been pretty bad compared for JinAir compared to last year so far. Maru winning Season 1 and Trap's ro4 was there so objectively not horrible but last year IEM Katowice and WESG had also gone their way. Now Trap's their only player left in Code S :/
Edit: As I press post I realize sOs is also there.

No respect for Cure who has the easiest group to advance from out of all Jin Air players (relative to their skill)
I'm really sad to see Rogue go... -.- But i'm also happy for Fantasy. But that aside: What's happening to Jin-Air? Trap and sOs have to hold the torch up now (yes, i know, Cure is also still left in codeS, and i like him, but historically, he hasn't been on the level of Trap or sOs) Despite beeing an sOs fan: I'm rooting for Trap, he deserves a win. IMO he's been the best Jin-Air-Toss for quite some time now.

This is just horrible... I never really was complaining about balance but those games today and especially last group the aLive vs Creator game was just horrible to observe... there has to be a change.. nerf prisms and/or Immortals

Fair enough with aLive and Creator but crying about balance because Stats beat Leenock and FantaSy? We're talking about the best Protoss of Lotv and currently the second best Protoss in the world beating a guy who's best result this year is top 20 at IEM Katowice and another who's only recently returned from military service. Stats is tiers above them no way they were gonna beat him, balance or no balance.
Stats looked very solid in this group, seemed to get through no problem.
Fantasy looked super happy that he advanced, good to see real join in a relatively small achievement. He deserves some good results.
Leenock looked like Leenock. Good enough to think maybe theres something more there but then bad plays and throws to seize defeat from the jaws of victory.
Rogue looking totally demoralized. Again. Definitely a player who seems to get into his own head and has losses compound losses. That 2-0 cheese out against Leenock made him die inside. One of the fastest series in GSL.

Considering all of the cheesy bullshit Rogue's done, he's got no room to complain when the shoe is on the other foot.
Those Fantasy games were nuts! Especially that last one against Leenock. I thought he was dead 3 different times but he somehow clawed his way back in.

While I agree Stats is leagues above those guys recent weeks showed really how OP immortals are. Quite many times, even if opponent has double army supply protoss just wins, as long as they keep their immortals alive. Its getting ridiculous. Its basically a "one unit to rule them all" type of a unit now.

Its immortal + wp micro that makes it so strong. Reducing the warp prism factor in some way solves this. Like I mentioned just recently in another thread maybe warp prisms should start as shuttles and require warping in units as an upgrade. Or maybe the long distance pickup is moved to an upgrade. Altering the WP seems like the best solution.

It's a tough call, but I think the warp prism edges out the queen as the best mineral-only unit in the game. And you can do a lot more with one prism than you can with one queen.
Perhaps, Rogue may need some time for him to recover from this slump. He might not employing some unorthodox plays or playing cheesy as we always noticed during his prime days but I believed he can win the GSL after he regained confidence and morality again.

Honestly I'm not sure I buy the hype around Rogue as since his last tournament win (Katowice 2018) he has got to the semifinals in only one tournament (Blizzcon). Otherwise he's been out in the ro. 8 or the ro. 16 which is quite poor for a supposedly Championship caliber player. Personally I feel he's very much flattered to deceive since his incredible run of form in late 2017-early 2018.
Congrats to Fantasy! His matches were so engaging to watch. I really like watching him play, it somehow reminds me of the days of MVP back in Wings of Liberty. GSL really needed some fresh air. 👋

Leenock was ahead until he threw all his units through the chokepoint. Leenock engagements were so costly that he couldn't recover after wards.

He played both mech and bio in both match-ups. Every game was a different builds, his preperation was top-notch.
Super happy he advanced.
His harrasment to crawl back in game 3 was very Maru-esque.
I cant believe you said that about actually the worst game of the year
The game had some terrible moments, but the way he multitasked with his medivacs was outstanding. He used every ounce of focus to scrap his way back. That's a character typical of Maru when he is behind.
Fantasy was probably the top player at the end of the BW professional era. Although he lost the last 2 OSL finals to Jangbi, he beat Flash 3-0 and had the highest ELO.
The fact he's choosing to play SC2 instead of going back to BW says something about what he thinks of his own chances in SC2.
