As a person who joined SC2 community recently but with a lot of BW experience, my opinion regarding Maru arguments is that SC2 looks to me as a much more let me find the word...I guess much more exploitable game, there are way too many ways to lose or to win. No matter how good you are prepared, how good is your macro, micro etc. you cant even get close to patch all the holes that can lose you a game. In that sense, players like Flash, Jaedong, Iloveoov etc from BW who were able to dominate every single game they played does not look achievable in SC2, at least in the state the game is atm, cannot comment for the previous expansions. So what Maru is doing atm is as close to what the BW bonjwas were doing as much as the game he plays allows it. Just my 2 cents.
Difference between Flash and Maru is that Flash is a constantly super good player. Maru is an occassionally super good player while sucking 50% of the time. So not nearly close to Flash.

Difference also is that Flash wasn't nearly as successful in SC2 as Maru. And losing to top opponents everny now and then and occasionally losing to underdogs is not "sucking 50% of the time". In fact Serral and Maru are probably kind of unmatched with their best winrecords during their periods of dominance in 2018 in the whole history of SC2.

ah, we have entered the territory of debating BW careers and legacy now, truly the 2019 is the enlightened era of LR threads
edit: actually my bad, I thought this was the GSL thread, as M2 has made the same post there

Nobody said that, of course he doesn't compare to Flash. Point is that if the tournament scene in sc2 was the same as in BW (only starleagues) Maru would be a bonjwa 100% now winning every tournament for over a year. With constant weekenders/oversea tournaments which require a different skillset and drain out the players due to travelling it's much more diffficult in sc2 to dominate everything

Why is Flash even being brought up? he played a different game
It is widely known that Terran has been broken in BW. Terran has utterly dominated BW. The most favorable non-mirror winrates, highest peak ELOs, the most MSL,OSL, and ASL titles, and all bonjwas but one are terran (only non-terran was involved in match fixing lol). TvT is also the least "bullshit" mirror in brood war, meaning that skill is rewarded the most and the top terran player doesnt have to be worried about mirror matches as much as the top zerg or protoss player
Maru doesnt enjoy the luxury of a Terran race that has been blatantly broken for the majority of his sc2 career like flash with BW

That's true, this time I fully agree with you.

I do admit Maru definitely is not bonjwa on the level of Flash but I think it wouldn't be crazy to compare him to Savior or Boxer in terms of achievements. Inno is more like Jaedong in that he amassed his achievements over a longer period of time.

Nobody will win 3GSL in a row, let alone 4GSL, Maru is the GOAT, period.

Patience is now the GOAT.
