First Serral got his title, now Scarlett too....come on soO, you can do it too!

Congrats to Scarlett, great plays from her, well deserved win !

soO has title Kespa Cup 2015

For soO the only title that matters is the GSL

so scarlett wins an IEM means better than neeb who won 3 WCS?

Yes beating one top korean in a bo7 is more impressive than stomping a bunch of foreigners

Beating an inconsistent good Korean in one series while consistently failing against other foreigners is quite impressive indeed.

Consistently failing = 3-1ing Elazer and Serral.

Woah, you really should go to the doctor to see how bad your dementia has gotten. Genuinely getting quite worried on your declined memory and other thinking skills.

Funny how tears became nerfs to Protoss and see players like Byun, Rogue and Scarlett who never won a fuck in their entire life (but team titles like Proleague and GSTL) suddenly playing like gods.

The only fact here is a World Class Champion being defeated by the great book of zerg bullshit.

You realize that everybody starts his journey by not having won a fuck in his life?
So your argument is realllyy bad.

And to add to that, as I said in the lr thread, Scarlett has shown impeccable mechanics and reads before, it all just came together recently

It's funny a friend of mine said that Scarlett would lose to Serral easily, because Scarlett wasn't the same anymore after the defeats at WESG, how wrong he was.

I get what you mean. Scarlett winning here isn't as impressive as people are making it out to be. But for one of the most beloved players of all time to win such a historic event is great for the community.

And I've been saying for the past year that Scarlett is good enough to win an event so I guess I should be happy. But people are going a bit too crazy over it.

Oh, I understand that many people are looking at this through rose-colored glasses. I don't begrudge them their happiness. I'm no fan of sOs, as I said multiple times in the LR. That being said, I don't buy into the overhype of Scarlett either.

Once the enthusiasm of the moment dies down, people will be more rational. What Scarlett did was impressive, but no more impressive than winning a WCS Circuit trophy. Even down to the oversaturation of ZvZ series. Beating sOs in the finals is great at first glance, until you realize that sOs used exactly zero of his famously unconventional builds, and lost three of the games to cheese.

Winning a tournament "on Korean soil" means a lot less once you realize that there were a grand total of two Koreans present, and Scarlett only played one of them, a guy so renowned for his inconsistency that the community was forced to create the narrative that he only plays his best in tournaments with a $100,000 first place prize. Scarlett winning Pyeongchang is nowhere near as impressive as Neeb winning the Kespa Cup–at least Neeb's mirrors were Korean. And just like overzealous fans mistakenly extrapolated Neeb's win, so too are they mistakenly extrapolating Scarlett's. Just like they will do if Scarlett makes it to the Ro8 over Zest and Leenock, of all people, in the easiest GSL group by far. Consistency is what allows for extrapolation, and consistent results are conspicuously absent.

Congratulations to Scarlett, she played well and deserved this win. That's not an excuse to forget what this win means–and what it doesn't mean.

Yes, you can call me a killjoy

What an accomplishment by Scarlett. To take it to sOs like that shows just how high level her play is currently at. Enjoy the victory, and good luck in GSL! Go Canada!!

I think a Semi-Finals GSL runs would cement Scarlet as a top-tier foreigner if she manages to keep her form up well. If RO16 goes the way everyone think it does, beating zest and leenock wouldn't be too 'impressive'. Winning against Dark or Soo in the quarterfinals should at least mean her ZvZ is top notch. For amusement's sake, I do hope she will meet sos in the semi-finals again.

It kinda is true that sOs only plays his best in big money events. Well nowadays it's more he only cares about GSL. He said in an interview last year he's happy about the money he's won so far and just wants to win GSL, and other events he just tries to entertain fans. You can't really deny it when his games in crossfinals and SSL were memes, all the events he gets voted into he barely wins any maps, meanwhile he makes it to two GSL finals and a ro4.

When people say sOs's skill increases when a lot is on the line there is some backing to it. He was the only guy to every pull of a reverse all-kill in proleague history right?
Zest, sOs, PartinG, Dark, and Maru are the real champs. ROOT_herO is overrated. Snute, Serral, and Scarlett are the foreigner GOATs

To validate the (insane) level of hype, Scarlett would have to defeat a top Korean Terran in GSL. Which is to say, INnoVation or TY.

And that's probably not going to happen.

Well she has done it before (not in GSL ofc), but Innovation or TY wouldn't lose to any foreign zerg. Outside of Dark or Solar they wouldn't lose to zerg in general

For max Pro/Anti Scarlet saltiness, I want

RO16 Scarlet > Leenock + Zest
RO8 Scarlet > Soo/Dark
Ro4 Scarlet > Any group D toss that's not Trap
Finals Scarlet < Innovation 0:4

She played so intelligently the whole, series - some really great moves to keep the tempo and economy of sOs in check. That roach attack in game 1 (i think) which didn't kill the third but just traded really well was so well thought out.

Congratualtions Scarlett!

What a tremendous run through that bracket. I won't say I was without doubt about Scarlett's chances of getting to the finals, let alone winning, but I'm so happy for the result. It's been a long time coming, I'm very much looking forward to what she can accomplish next.
