sOs also overtakes Life/TY as the 2nd highest prize pool earner from SC2.

so who's the best foreigner boys?

Still Neeb? Serral? Or is it acutally Scarlett or Elazer? What about ShoWTimE and Special? Nerchio and Snute are prly behind those, or are they? :D

Yes beating one top korean in a bo7 is more impressive than stomping a bunch of foreigners

I mean Neeb's wins last year aren't really relevant when we wanna talk about the best foreign player now though.
The problem with scarlett is that she was basically afk for wcs, but this tournament win and the gsl result (possibly even making playoffs) is certainly impressive.

Congratz to Scarlett, good to see her win.

Not trying to take anything away from it, but why were only Zest and sOs in this as Koreans? Does it have to do with the qualifiers being before the recent patch? Great tourney, just wish a Korean Terran or Zerg was also in it.

I watched it live. It was actually quite a stomp. The game sOs won was out of sheer will, micro, and unit efficiency (see: immortals blasting roaches, warp prisms). Otherwise, this series was a complete rollover. The Zergling breach on BlackPink reminded me quite a bit of the old school Leenock.

I may or may not have drooled a little from focusing too much on that game. One of the best games in the series for sure

Players qualified per region. Korean qualifier gave two spots to the event. EU 5, NA 4, SA 2 and so on. So the spots were given due to a mix of playerbase and population of each region.
Furthermore, I consider that some kind of Code A must be reestablished.

Korean SC2 is getting sad, time to reverse the region lock.

Zest and sOs aren't really the best examples of the korean elite (currently) though. Zest is not good (against zerg at least) right now, and sOs is capable of losing to anyone (e.g. when he won zero maps at nation wars)
Zest, sOs, PartinG, Dark, and Maru are the real champs. ROOT_herO is overrated. Snute, Serral, and Scarlett are the foreigner GOATs

Anybody able to shed some light on how to defend these ling allins? It felt like the ball was always in Scarlett's court, and I'm not sure what sOs should have done to defend. Would a non-stargate opener like gladepts have stompted it? Plus it seems like you really have to snipe the overlord else the zerg has too many attack avenue?

Asking since I'm sure I'm going to hit a bunch of ling allins and ling elevators on ladder and not sure how to stop it.

Loving the results? Non of the results are consistent. Code S player cant make it in Foreigners tournament, yet winning against (What people say here) the best Protoss players. Its all over the place. Taking it serious is impossible. This god damn region lock is just fucking everything up

For starters, don’t use your entire chronoboost on a gateway not producing units

Haha, you're not wrong but I don't think that would have made the difference between a hold and non-hold. Maybe it's just a hard counter to sgate openers, don't think you have the production/dps to kill constant ling production

Would adding gateways and saccing main work? Are you too behind if you lose your main, even if all your production/tech are in nat? One could imagine Zest-style simcity w/ all buildings at nat if losing main is playable. It does seem unplayable to me, just throwing out a wild guess

Why "user warned for this post" on #18 ? He is totally right. All protoss strategies about playing against zerg are about defend till zerg does a throw. If it does not come youre lost to late game armys at minute 10. To play this way i would have choosen terran and play mech for almost 8 years.

Congratulations to Scarlett, definitely an unexpected result that many people have been waiting for.

That being said, as somebody who didn't have very strong opinions about either player coming in–disliked sOs's playstyle but memed about his mother, ambivalent towards Scarlett–I have to say that I am reflexively repulsed by the community reaction. This is the most disproportionate reaction to anyone winning anything I've ever seen in SC2. While I do understand that a popular player with a lot of fans who were waiting a long time will naturally cause a disproportionate reaction, I still step back out of sheer confusion/instinct.

Very well done by Scarlett of course, but (through no fault of her own) she seems to have surpassed Neeb and Byun in worst fanbases as well as winning a tournament. Or maybe I just never noticed before. My opinion of Scarlett's skill as a player has risen considerably, but my opinion of her fanbase has fallen just as much.
