To think she was originally disqualified from the qualifiers. Wow.

I almost forgot this even happened. Very glad to see that things got worked out so she could play (dominate).

Very solid win. Haven't watched SCII in awhile. Good set from her. Work in Korea showing.

Well the thing is with sOs and his builds was that Scarlett was hyper aggressive early on, and cheeses generally work better against people who aren't going for aggression. And sometimes, Scarlett was aggressive before sOs could even pull off any cheeses.

I think part of the reason sOs looked so bad was because Scarlett pressured him into playing that way. sOs, before hitting Scarlett, was massacring Special, Kela, and DNS. Like the games weren't particularly close, and sOs was pulling off a lot of crazy stuff there.

Yeah, that was how I felt when watching those games too. Part of what happened was Scarlett threw sOs's builds off--I wouldn't be surprised if his mentality was a little thrown by it psychologically, because he's usually the one who's thought a few steps ahead of the other person. I'm not sure how big of a factor this was exactly, but that was how it looked to me anyway. I thought she probably got into his head a little.

sOs was playing so safe and unlike himself
But very happy for scarlett, can't believe it took so long for her to get a big title.

No doubt Scarlett was the better player during that final match. Of course sOs tried all he could to stop her and in general sOs still shines with great skill. Playing like this I have hope for sOs in the GSL. But may be pure aggression is the ultimate weapon to stop the unorthodox style of sOs.
May be the maps are in favor of Scarlett right now and for aggressive early and middle game zergs. But this doesn't change the fact that she really played well and to be honest, I wanted for her to grab this trophy, despite that sOs is one of my very favorite players all times. After so many years I wanted to see Scarlett with a major tournament trophy especially if you defeat one of the very top players right now and for the last 4-5 years.
Actually both of them demonstrated good defence and micro. I think in this case it was a matter of will and Scarlett really wanted this. She took more risky strategies and it worked for her.

Hey guys,

Wow congratulation for Scarlett. The last time she was this close was when she was 2nd place against JD. I haven't kept up with the scene for a while since the region lock for wcs. Can someone explain to me why there were so little Korean representative for a tournament that was held in Korea? It seems the scene is artistically trying to balance out the competition.

This event in particular was held with the support of the IOC (Olympic committee). So just like the Olympics, they wanted representatives from every region even if they weren't quite as good.

No doubt it’s easier to play when you have balance on your side.
