He'd have a much better shot since he's basically a legend in SC2. He's one of the best things to ever happen to SC2 Protoss. Maybe the best.

Oh i am not denying that, imo Rain is one of the most important players in sc2 for sure. But that doesn't necessarily translate into a lot of fans. Hard to say for sure, though he surely had the looks so he probably had a lot of fans :D

Oh yeah that game was awesome. In general Rain seems to be pretty good atm, one of the better toss players in bw.
No chance to make it into the top8 though i think.
TBLS are a sure bet i would imagine, then there are big streamers like terror who might wanna participate (which would be bad for the quality of the tournament imo).

I'm not sure if Rain could win a popularity vote in sc2 because he left the scene since quite a long time. But in his prime he would have been chosed, he played so well I found myself lacking of argument against protoss
