You mean the WCS announcement where we all were surprised to hear that SSL was gone and after which SPOTV released a statement expressing their disappointment?
Or some other Blizzard announcement I missed that came out way after that? <.<
If the viewer demand is high enough SPOTV wouldn't need a sponsor for a BW tournament, remember that they are an actual TV channel.

Still i cannot wait anymore haha. There were rumors about spotv being interested in doing bw, but i hope that's not what these teasers are about because sc2 really needs some love as well. D-1, tomorrow a new teaser? If it's not SC2 I think a lot of people will be upset with SPOTV because they used SSL to promote it. yeah but then again it is on march 3rd, siginificant BW date not so much SC2. True, however, starting the teasers with SSL got a lot of people's hopes up. If it ends up not being SC2, I think they didn't do themselves the biggest favor. Which of course they're free to do. Still, they'd have to deal with upset fans who might have watched a BW league if it was advertised differently. I mean at the end of the day they teased another SSL. It implies sc2 but it could also be a BW one. Kinda like OSL switched to sc2. I hope that's not the case and we get an sc2 one, but as i said before i wanna have Spotv content for both games anyway. Yeah but one without the other isn't both (this is some deep stuff I know) If it's a BW tournament, not interested atm. Well if you wanna believe Flash (or rather the translation of classicyellow) he implied that spotv is interested in doing bw content. That means i would hope the teaser was about sc2 so the chance of having both is increased I dunno, Afreeca has such a strong grasp on the BW scene, I don't see why they'd be willing to get themselves a competitor yet. I feel like they should want to make as much money with BW as they can by themselves as long as possible. I don't quite understand what you mean? If SPOTV wants to do a tournament then they can do that without any input from afreeca? One of the things i wouldn't understand is where SPOTV gets the money from for another sc2 SSL / tournament. Is blizzard on board? Doesn't seem like it? Of course Afreeca doesn't control SPOTV. But they got pretty much every player on their payroll. Kinda like the whole KeSPA/OSL/GSL thing when they switched from BW to SC2. Why would Blizzard be against it if SPOTV wanted to do one? Seems like just a matter of negotiating. We'll see soon enough anyway.
Ultimately Afreeca holds a lot of cards because they're signing the checks of all these people via their streams. But I really doubt Afreeca is going to pull on player's leashes atm since popularity of those tournaments means popularity on Afreeca streams.

Huh now i am not sure anymore. I thought there was one the last few weeks? I might be wrong though Well usually these tournaments have sponsors though. Like all the old OSLs, etc. Sure it's a tv channel but it's still a niche one. But yeah i don't know how these channels like OGN/SPOTV operate exactly :D

I don't think Afreeca has ever shown that they're petty enough to oppose other SC2 tournaments. Ultimately more popularity of SC2 means more money for Afreeca, and SPOTV has shown that they're at least competent enough to run a decent tournament. I don't see any reason Afreeca would be against that...
