Regardless of the situation, we will still action upon "dead game" comments. As this is a sensitive issue for SC2 fans, please do not come into this thread and talk about SC2 players switching over to BW. This thread is also not about bashing Blizzard, David Kim, or the WCS system.

Why not, that's what happened to youtube. You used to not be able to have a successful channel without a Media company backing you up. Now look how many of the big ones are dropping their associations and succeeding. Overwatch isn't the e-Sports phenom they wanted it to be, maybe they'll invest more in SC2 tourneys. They're giving TB $5k/month to burn, maybe they'll start to run ladder-based tourneys Might be a dying day in the East, but the west might hold it together. It's hard to support a team with twice as much support staff as players on ~50k/yr USD. I was looking at some of Scarlett's match history and $800-2k winnings from tourneys, the Korean one was 80k KRW...or ~$80 USD. They mentioned it in the release - "Difficulty getting sponsors" will kill the teams. No one can be surprised that the community isn't there to draw sponsors. Without sponsors, the events aren't even worth the work effort to win. Love that subtle insert of "Match fixing" though. When did SC2 become Boxing?

I won't call myself victim; we (*this scene) had a sense of ownership and regarded this as our job, work and home." I can tell you that he is absolutely not the only one. This was something we all "owned" and made ours. In the sense of the history of this league, I came in VERY late in being involved (2014). But when I got to work with the people who have been part of this since its beginning, I was able to see how much everyone REALLY cared about this tournament. It gave me energy, passion.. Whatever term you want to use for it. It's sad to see how many people are going to lose their jobs over this. Irrespective of what happens in to the future of SC2 i hope things go well for you personally, your a great caster. I still have fond memories of you and Khaldor doing Code A in your spare time, what a great team to listen too whilst watching those qualifiers Great times

The memories of Tastosis making fun of "voices of dissent" on stream, maintaining that SC2 is as healthy as it could ever be are going to be even more precious. And what exactly would it have helped, if the "voices of dissent" got heard? All the doomsayers did so only for their own benefit - to sound smart or just to be assholes. There was never anything the fans could miraculously do to prevent the end of Proleague, unless enough them were billionaires, so what was ever the point of being "realistic"?

Lmao, that Dva announcer. But I guess they had their priorities. I would be inclined to think that Blizzard doesn't judge the situation based on forum posts and streamers' opinions. They probably knew about the likelihood of SPL ending a long time in advance and I wouldn't be surprised to hear they tried to do something about it, but at the end, they are a for-profit organization and have to focus on things that provide returns for them (making their focus on WCS reasonable).

There was never anything the fans could miraculously do to prevent the end of Proleague, unless enough them were billionaires, so what was ever the point of being "realistic"? I've done a lot of that and it wasn't to sound smart or to be an asshole. Actually most of the time you have to take on yourself cause you know some of the fans will attack you for saying what you think. When I write sometimes I think maybe people are gonna hate my name lol. Sometimes I wonder if I'm wrong or exaggerate and should say differently. Personally I think of my passion for RTS and the future of RTS when I say this stuff and just let people know not to be mislead, I want it to be known what the good bad and ugly about all this is so that people remember what RTS really is about and don't just take SC2 as an example of the best thing ever which it never was. (you got to counter the claims that the game is perfect, is the same as "Starcraft", and its downfall is only the downfall of RTS.. it's not a very good RTS lol, it relies on speed/reflexes, gambling and short term crippling traps and attacks that's why many RTS fans are not playing it it's just lacking in strategy and tactics all I want to play is a great RTS man). I don't want to see people on the forums just fighting over little details that annoys them so much in their opponents race when discussing game balance/design. I want to see progress in the genre. So I'm just sharing understanding of RTS and stressing the importance of game quality, strategy & tactics, community against hype, esport money or blind praise (not that I think esport is a bad thing..). I know others as well, depends on who but you can't say everybody do this only for themselves, on this side it can be pretty hard. People who would white knight the game always, some of them may do that for personal reason.. Anyway it's almost never so simple that there are two sides with one only having selfish people on it.
